the term African American was keyed because many decendents of slaves had no idea WHERE in African they originated. Some didn't even originate in Africa I imagine, however most slaves DID come from the continent of Africa, so the term African American was used to describe them since they had no sense of country.
Obama KNOWS where he come from. He's Nigerian American, and only half so. The media misuses "African American" based on his skin color.
