Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I think you mean Bob Barr, former Republican representative from, I think, Georgia. He's an NRA board member. He was also the subject of one of the pranks in Borat...

Edit: Here's his web page: http://www.bobbarr.org/default.asp

Considering that Libertarian Party presidential candidates have never secured more than 2% of the popular vote, it might as well be nothing more than a rumor.

The public just isn't buying the Libertarian platform. Too many people think it's kooky and/or fundamentally flawed. Not to mention that "true conservatives" are a rare breed to begin with.

Thanks, I'll have to do more research because I haven't heard much about him.

What do you think his chances are?

Would you vote for him?

But are libertarians true conservatives, or actually true liberals. I'd argue the latter. Conservatives these days are interested in legislating just as many of our rights away as the socialists, they just do it in the name of God, Gays, and Terrorism.

I dont see libertarianism coming into vogue with the mainstream until we've pushed the country too far into the statist region to make a difference.

I would certainly consider it, IF he were on the Republican ticket or if the LIbertarian Party were even remotely viable on a national level. As a Libertarian candidate who is a former Republican, I see him taking away votes from McCain, thus assisting in the election of Mr. Obama.

Actually, I believe they are true conservatives and true liberals at the very same time. This is the very reason why they can't, at the present time, win any serious elections.

The liberals reject their conservative doctrines and the conservatives reject their liberal doctrines. There just aren't enough folks who combine both extremes.

My biggest concern is that he is a former Republican, and I have been weighing the McCain vote also.

This election just stinks. I refuse to vote Obama or Clinton, but I am not crazy about Cheney either. I have pretty much conceeded putting down McCains name but find myself hoping someone better would come along and people would take notice. But I just need to face the music we are allready into June.

McCain has the Republican nomination locked up. If you vote Republican, you'll be voting for McCain.

I know what I was talking about was someone coming along another circuit. I am not strict Republican persay. But I have always voted Republican in the past. In truth this is the most I have paid attention to politics in awhile. And that is part of the reason I get so upset about people who vote popularity. I have never voted popularity like highschool girls do but have generally stayed with Rep because they have the same core values for the most part. I guess I could say I have matured a bit. I do not see myself as a political guru but I feel I am at least trying to make a well thought and informed decision based on the facts.
