During the last 5 years we have spent 87 billion dollars on the war in Iraq. Now I know most of you that read this are hard core gun owning republicans and generally I think along those same lines. I was deployed to Iraq with the Marine Corp twice and over the past 5 years ( even though we were lied too about the WMDs) I have thought that it was an overall good thing removing Saddam from power.
At this point it has become insane, yet John Mccain says he is not leaving anytime soon. I say it is time to stop baby sitting that countrie's government and leave.
Think about how some of that money could offer relif to todays gas prices. Look I have been laid off at my job due to the housing market crash and I cannot afford to put gas in my truck, and we are spending money like that over there. We got Arlin Spector worried more about the damn NE Patriots that gas or the economy.
I am a Patriot and I was glad to send bullets down range for my country but THIS CURRENT ADMINSTRATION HAS FAILED, BUSH HAS FAILED.
how would that money provide relief for gas prices? Are we just going to start subsdizing gas, that's a pretty bad idea that will just get us into more trouble down the road.

So, you think it was a good thing to remove Saddam from power, but now you're in favor of a "cut and run" strategy, leaving the area in chaos, civil war, or worse, takeover by Iran?
What lies? We sold them the stuff. Saddam used it. Every intelligence agency on the planet believed he still had it. He refused to comply with UN mandates on disclosure and disposal.

Do you feel the same way about our forces that have remained in Europe and ***an since the end of WWII, and in Korea, since the 1950's?

So what's your solution? Elect Obama, who will raise $2 trillion in new taxes, and ship nearly half off in aid to Africa, where it'll be usurped by petty tyrants and dictators?

RE: $551.00 per second
let the UN deal with the breach of UN resolutions
we went in, dealth with Saddam, done, over with. they have a govt in place, they have a SURPLUS in their govt because of the oil they sell, let them stand up and walk on their own
the US is going broke on this, we need to take care of our own RIGHT NOW because if we are taking care of Iraq and not our own, something is terribly wrong there
and yeah, leave Iraq right now, just like we left Vietnam and Korea, WWI and WWII were different times completely
A lot has already been said, but as far as the housing market goes, it's the fault of our whole culture. People accept debt as good and healthy. They feel entitled to houses they couldn't afford. Th country is screwed up because of it's lack of discipline and standards. Blame the administration if you like. Nobody likes to blame themselves.
We weren't lied to. Bush made the decision based on the best info he had available. ALL top democrats said Saddam had WMDs, and Saddam himself THOUGHT he had them. You got off on the wrong foot by implying Bush was the only one in the world who knew Saddam didn't have WMDs.
Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion on Iraq, but it is important to note a couple of things:
1.) All the money we've spent on Iraq could not do one freakin' thing to cut the cost of gasoline. The only way one could even arrive at this conclusion is to assume that we would spend that money on alternative energy research, and even then it's a stretch.
2.) The war in Iraq did not have one freakin' thing to do with the housing collapse. How in the hell could not spending $87 billion in Iraq have helped us avoid the housing market crunch?

the problem with housing is that too many people act like it is an investment as opposed to being a necessity of life (one of the actual few....food, water, clothing, a place to get away from the elements). Sure it's nice to be able to make money off of it, but you don't run around taking loans on the increased price of corn you have laying around do ya.
