I have expressed opposition to Mitt Romney because of what I perceive to be his position on two issues. Some feel that's a narrow view. That's fine. I understand your point. But I would like to clarify one particular point which arose in another forum.
MY HOSILITY TOWARDS MITT ROMNEY IS NOT BECAUSE HE IS A MORMON!
I COULD NOT CARE LESS WHAT HIS RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION IS!
THE FACT THAT HE IS A MORMON IS IRRELEVANT!
I HAVE NEVER, EVER, POSTED ANYTHING THAT COULD BE CONSTRUED AS AN OBJECTION TO MITT ROMNEY BECAUSE HE IS A MORMON!
THANK YOU.

thanks for sparing us those stupid sheep. I still feel that Mitt Romney was the best canidate for president among the republicans. But there was no way a republican could win against democrat this election. Which makes me glad he bowed out, it will set him up good for the next election. He would have some great ideas to revive our economey.

I do'nt believe this for 1 second. Talk to the women....they HATE obama and it's directly due to the short shrift Hillary as gotten as a woman in this campaign from the democrat party. THey really are a bunch of pukes; they call for hillary to drop out and obama has not clinched the nomination yet. WIth Mi and Fl
still in play, Hillary can still get the popular vote. THEN what will the sociocrats do ? What will their argument be, to drop hillary from the ticket ? They've been whining about the popular vote and voter disenfranchisement, yet, what will the reasoning mutate into if it turns out that Hillary has the popular vote and the dems STILL want obama ? Pukes, all.
Fact is, this race is gonna tank for the demos. If obama takes the nomination, the hillary supporters are going to sit out the election. If hitlery gets the nomination (admittedly unlikely), the black vote will sit home in NOvember. The only people making any sense, and the only ones looking to the future are the republicans because they plan to vote for McCain, despite the stink.
It's beginning to look like Clinton/Obama might not have been the best set of choices for the Democrats. Both of them seem to have some strong negatives. Romney might have been a better choice for the Democrats.I know he calls himself a Republican, but in his heart you know he's a liberal. Conservatives just aren't very popular in Massachusetts.)
I think McCain's choice of VP will have a bigger effect than it usually does. His age raises doubt with some people, so the VP will HAVE to be younger. The VP should also be a real conservative, someone who walks the walk, not just talks the talk. McCain will also need someone who can pull votes where he isn't very popular.
McCain has name recognition because he's been running for president for generations. At least it seems that way. If it weren't for that, I don't think he would have the nomination now. Name recognition is vital. McCain has always won Michigan, but this time Romney won it. Why? Name recogntion. Lots of folks in other parts of the country don't know that Mitt's daddy was once governor of Michigan and his mama ran for the Senate.
Huckabee has all the qualities McCain needs to offset his liabilities. There are others too, but Huckabee has the most name recognition at this point. So if he were to ask me to pick a VP for him, I'd have to suggest Huckabee.
The only way McCain can lose this election is by choosing Huckabee as his running mate. WhileHuckabee might assure thatMcCain will carry the "BibLe Belt" there are not enough electoral votes there to win the presidency. A Southern Baptist preacher who is on record as a creationist and has hinted the Consititution should beamended to make it less secular and more biblical will cost McCain any chance of winning anywhere in New England, the Mid-Atlantic and West Coast. Furthermore, Catholic voters in states like Michigan, Wisconsin and New Mexico are not going to see much difference between Huckabee and the televangelist Hagee. That would leave McCain with having to win Ohio, Nevada and Colorado to have any chance of getting to 270 electoral votes and Huckabee would be a real liability in all those states. If I werea DemocratI would love nothing better thanto seeMcCainblow a sure thing by picking Huckabee as his VP candidate.

First, I always find it amusing that folks in the Northeast would refuse to vote for a "Southern Baptist Preacher", and yet, they'd vote whole heartedly for a Bill Klinton, a Southern Baptist Philanderer...
Second, you are grossly exaggerating/misstating what Huckabee said about amending the constitution. His comments were, as I recall, solely related to adopting amendments regarding abortion and marriage, and were completely consistent with the Republican Party platform.
