Default Ohio FOP Opposed To CCW

Think back about ten years to the reign of Bill Klinton. Remember Klinton announcing another gun control scheme from the rose garden.See the national head of the Fraternal Order of Police, Gallegos, nodding in agreement with Klinton. Well,FOP are at it again, this time in Ohio.

I stopped contributing to the FOPin 1994 after giving them money for decades. When the tele-marketer calls he gets an ear full.

The only thing you hear in the local news about actual CC folks is when they prevent crimes with their guns. I've yet to hear any bad things.

Mine is just days away, and it's a lifetime permit! [8D]

Why is it that despite numerous studies reportingareas where concealed carry and relaxed gun regulation are the norm crime goes down, and is generally lower than the national average, law enforcement tries the hardest to restrict both? Can any of the LEOs on here answer that one? What? Is it a job security issue with y'all?

It's a fear issue. FOP is most active in urban areas, where crime is the highest, and police work the most dangerous. I worked the most violent city in America, and there's lots of police that are afraid of guns because everybody knows somebody that's been shot at least once. Fear trumps logic (almost) every time. I have been shot more than once and guns still don't bother me. Law-abiding gun owners are just that.

Do you think it has any thing to do with todays hiring practices? Lower standards, minority's, women?
Why isn't the base of todays gun crimes eliminated?

Gangs & drugs, if these people just kept the killings to them selves more gun laws would not be an issue.

I'm convinced that the hostility of most police to carry by law-abiding citizens is an ego thing. I can't believe that cops aren't smart enough to understand that the threat to their lives is from the bad guys, not from law-abiding citizens. How many criminals will refrain from committing an armed robbery because they can't get a concealed carry permit?

Sorry, but I think what it comes down to is "Naa, Naa, Naa, I can carry a gun and you can't."

I'm a lifetime NRA, member, been a cop for over 17 years now and think all law abiding citizens should be able to carry a gun. Most street cops I know are not opposed to CCW's for citizens at all. It seems like the liberal police groups (like FOP, etc.) are the ones who are catering to the anti-gun crowd. I refuse to join, support or donate to any group that is anti-gun or anti-CCW.[:@]

p.s. I've been shot before and it didn't change my opinion at all.

I'm a sworn 25 year veteran law enforcement officer (Lt.) Anyone who doesn't fully support concealed carry permits orthe 2nd Amendement, is an enemy of our country and is totally blind, stupid, misinformed and ignorant in my humble opinion.

I refuse to support anyone who does not support ourright to keep and bear arms. [:@]
