Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Schools Redefining Failure

At some schools, failure goes from zero to 50

***

Yeah, we wouldn't want to discourage those students who can't pass their classes...

Sickening, why even have school? How about briefings from now on and free everything....for the rest of your life. Zero effort, zero failures, everyones fat and happy.

Do they still use the word "fail?" I thought they called it "needs improvement" now.

Public schools...providing a mediocre today for a substandard tomorrow.[:@]

Well now, we wouldn't want to damage their little egos, would we?

It's hilarious the changes that are made in public schools these days in the name of political correctness.

When I was in school, like all of you, if I got in trouble, I probably got sent to the principal's office for a paddling. I can remember the teacher carrying a paddle in his back pocket during a class field trip to a theme park. Obviously that's out the window now. We might also be made to lose recess time. That is a no-no now, because kids need time to socialize. We might've been given extra work. In science class, I would've rewritten the dictionary if the school year hadn't ran out. I made it to T. Can't do that now, because it teaches kids to hate school work. Or in the lower grades, we might've been made to stand in the corner. Can't do that, either, because it humiliates the kids in front of their peers.

Teachers used to pass out homework to let students grade each others work. Can't do that now, because Johnny might see Jimmy's poor grade, and that would hurt little Jimmy's self-esteem too much. Can't publish honor rolls, because it damages the self-confidence of those who don't make the list. Can't post a list of grades, because all the other students might see little Suzy's poor language arts grade. Can't cut kids from sports teams because lord knows that'll make 'em go home and overdose on mom's prozac.

Now how many of us can honestly say we had our psyches damaged when we failed an occasional test, or even an entire class? Or got cut from the team or picked last for the P.E. kickball team?

And these changes, they sure are helping our education system catch up with the rest of the world, aren't they?

God bless liberals.

That would mean we would raise a bunch of public school teachers.[:-]

I agree completely with Griswold, failure is how you measure success, if you never fail it's because you never tried. If we don't take our schools back from the liberals and return them to accountability the future is surely doomed.

Dude, you're not allowed to say "fat" anymore. You might harm someone's self- esteem.

At my son's school, anything below 70 is failing.

Schools have fallen victim to the general malaise sweeping the USA. The dumbing down of America is real. No one is interested in the long term.Folks care only about feel good sound bites. Example: Despite the fact that he has no clue or plan; Obama is getting lots of support among young folks because he preachesundefined "change."
