Default Muslim Threats Force Out Teacher

Yep, it happened right here in the good old USA. Another fine case of pandering to Muslims. The school board wussed out on this one.

"A Muslim high school[quote] student's intolerance for a service dog needed by a student teacher with a disability has reportedly prompted the student teacher to abandon the last 10 hours of his scheduled assignment at Technical High School in St. Cloud, Minn.

The St. Cloud Times online said the situation developed with student teacher Tyler Hurd, 23, of Mahtomedi, who hopes to teach special education.

He's a student at St. Cloud State University, and was assigned to Technical High School in the St. Cloud district for his 50 hours of student teaching, and took with him his service dog, Emmitt.

The newspaper said Hurd needs a service dog because of a childhood injury that leaves him with seizures, sometimes happening as often as weekly. The black lab is trained to protect Hurd when he has a seizure.

The school district told the newspaper it wasn't really a threat.
"I think it was a misunderstanding where we didn't really prepare either side for possible implications," Julia Espe, curriculum director for the public schools, said.

Hurd, however, reported a student threatened to kill his dog. He said the threat came from a Somali student who is Muslim. Minnesota has a large Somali population, mostly Muslim, and they have been involved in issues over their religion in the past.

Now, what did religion have to do with this situation? It seems much more 'student threats' than any religious threats.

And WorldNet daily is not an impartial news site.

I guess you could have added this:

"When it comes to the rights of the people with service dogs vs. the tenets of Islam, a leading Islamic group in Minnesota is encouraging Muslims to be tolerant.

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) today is expressing support for a St. Cloud State University student's right to his service dog after he left the school in late April because he says he feared for the safety of the animal."

What does being a Muslim have to do with it. Do they consider dogs unclean and the same as pigs and their women?

You could have just followed the link:

"CAIR-MN explains that Muslims believe the saliva of dogs invalidates the ritual ablution performed before prayer. Therefore, it has become a cultural norm for individuals not to have dogs in their houses -- not because the dog is unclean.

The Prophet Mohamed allowed the use of dogs for protection and for hunting, CAIR-MN added."

I thought you said in your initial reply that this incident wasn't religion-based?

Actually, I asked the question. Did you see any religious basis in the original post? I didn't.

Was the student's actions based on religion? Maybe a misinterpretation.

I guess the objectionable part, is that the student threatened to kill the dog,
not that the animal was objectionable for some perceived religious purity or
something. Was this a public school this occurred in ?

I guess that's the general objection...that and it involved a Muslim who will
make nutless Americans knuckle under to Muslim law and custom.

If the St. Cloud district is fed. funded, it needs to have its funding stripped. As well as being brought up on charges for violating fed. laws on handicap accessible facilities. All fed. funded facilities have to be handicap accessible for employs and the general population. If it is not a state funded school, then they can do what they want.

Whereis the ACLU on this one. Ohhhh yea, they cant take both sides.

It's amazing. Where does this crap end ? I tip my hat to the teachers out there. NO matter what
I may think of them, they are amazingly restrained in the face of the daunting task of educating the
un-educatable, and keeping unhappy parents at bay. I think I'd have grabbed this piece of crap and
thrown him out the window. Kill my frikkin' dog ? Only guy gonna kill my dog is me !
