Default ConocoPhillips, Aramco To Build Large Saudi Refinery

SAN FRANCISCO -- Saudi Aramco and ConocoPhillips plan to build an enormous refinery in Saudi Arabia, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday on its Web site. The Conoco-Aramco refinery will be on the Red Sea side of the Arabian peninsula and is scheduled for a 2013 startup, according to the Journal. The newspaper reported the size of the refinery will be comparable to another planned refinery to be built by Aramco and Total SA , which is estimated to cost about $10 billion and expected to refine about 400,000 barrels a day.

No, apparently we like paying out the ass to countries that sponsor terrorism.

No you need to narrow your scope. None in the USA. A little while ago 3 were being built on this side of the world, but the only one that caught my eye was the dedicated diesel plant in Canada. They are betting on the demand for diesel to grow. That's the way it should be if you believe in the free market.

I don't care where they build refineries as long as the gasoline is being shipped here. I'm a little worried about the refinery being afat terrorist target right in the middle of Nutjob Central, but I'm sure they've thought long and hard about security. I wish them good luck.

I guess so. I think it'll be tougher in Saudi Arabia because of the relatively greater security and stability.
