Obama wants $8,500 EXTRA per family to give to countries who may hate us?
If Senator Barack Obama has his way, U.S. taxpayers could very well be committed to spending $0.85 trillion(or approximately $8500.00 per household) -- much of it going to third world dictators and despots that hate America -- under the guise of fighting "global poverty." In the 1960's President Lyndon Johnson declared a War on Poverty. Now, thirty years later, not content with a failure to eradicate poverty on a national scale, Senator Obama and other liberals in the Senate want to duplicate that failure on a global scale ! Of course we're talking about Obama's so-called Global Poverty Act (S. 2433), which according to some conservative sources, would commit all of us to a stealth United Nations-inspired global tax of $845 billion over a 13-year period-- that's on top of the $300 billion per year the United States already shells out in foreign aid.
[blockquote] When we first alerted you and our CFIF members and activists to the Global Poverty Act, it was literally flying under the radar.
[/blockquote] In fact, the House of Representatives actually passed the bill on a voice vote because many Members simply weren't paying attention. According to CNS News, "the bill came attached to a mammoth 3,000-page piece of legislation at the end of the legislative session, meaning that congressmen barely had time to even read the overall legislation before voting on the bill -- and there was no way to target specific line items."
RE: Obama wants $8,500 EXTRA per family to give to countries who may hate us?
Yep. I've been talking about this one for quite a while. $850 Billion U.S. tax dollars shipped overseas, where it will have NO beneficial impact whatsoever, unless of course you're one of those folks who believes that the U.S. is the enemy and hopes for the downfall of our economy.
RE: Obama wants $8,500 EXTRA per family to give to countries who may hate us?
I'm always glad to see a Democrat step in the smelly stuff, but there seem to be a few anomalies in this information.
First, it says this is a global tax levied by the UN and hence presumably born by all nations not just the US. The $8,500/household obviously distributes this burden SOLEY across US households, an obvious gaff.
Second, since when was Obama sole dictator? Did Obama create this initiative on his own or has it come from other countries? Were there other senators/representatives who voted in favor or sponsored this bill? There has to be plenty of guilt to pass around on this.
Just a little skepticism seems due here. On the other hand, I'm all in favor of someone digging into this and finding out just to what extent and how Obama supports this and using it against him with extreme prejudice in the November election. The guy is a classic liberal, as is Hillary, and his trueprinciples should be outed.

As much as democrats love to spend WAY more than republicans, they are only willing to spend internationally when there is NO USbenefit whatsoever in such outlandish spending. It's bad enough our kids and grandkids have to pay their own way, PLUS$8 TRILLION in national debt, let's heap world welfare on their backs as well!
Give mea Bush third term any day to these socialist thieves!!!

That's not what it says. It says "UN inspired" not "UN imposed."

It's my understanding that Obama is one of the lead sponsors of the Senate version of the bill.

Skepticism is due? When the Democrat party leaders in the house snuck it through as a rider to a 3000 page bill, with a voice vote so that there's no record of who said yes and who said no? From the congressional records on H.R. 1302 Global Poverty Act of 2007:
Quote:
Sep 25, 2007: This bill passed in the House of Representatives by voice vote. A record of each representative's position was not kept.

Here you go... Obama is the Sponsor of the bill. There are 15 "co-sponsors". So, Obama is the lead dog in this pack of wallet thieves.
