RE: Woman Indicted for Role in MySpace Suicide Incident
Good! I heard about this story....her boy/husband pretended to be a boy and flirt etc..with her, only to build up her interest and confidence, then dump her/destroy her, when they knew she was emotionally unstable, I think they have a daughter her age as well, kinda a get back at her fro their daughter BS. I think her husband or whoever lued her online, should also get charged as as ex predator fraudelent info...etc....
they'll probably be let off with nothing, maybe a fine, or some jail time and a misdeameanor, whent this is as erious matter! make these people felons if anyone.....not Martha Stewart types....
RE: Woman Indicted for Role in MySpace Suicide Incident
This is a federal felony and the federal conviction rate at trial is about 75-80%. So the woman is facing some real jail time.
I am conflicted by this case but what was the woman thinking? She is supposed to be an adult! This reminds me of the TX cheerleader attempted murder case where a woman tried to hurt a cheerleader's mother to improve her daughter's chances of making the squad. Some people get too caught up in their kids' (supposed) welfare.

I dont like the direction this is going in. Whats next...so and so on this forum kills himself because of a post and then the author gets thrown in jail for the SUICIDE? Music? Books? TV shows? Sad movies? Divorce? Bad haircut? Dirty look?Wheres the line drawn?
My bottom line....she killed herself, wasnt murdered. What they did was cruel but not criminal. Would they have charged an actual boyfriend if he had broken up with her and then she offed herself?

I was thinking that too, but she is not on trial for murder. She and others harrassed a minor online, and that ultimately led to the girl's suicide. The woman is scum, and scum belongs in prison, IMHO.

True true but Im still grappling with the suicideaspect of it. Should be interesting to see the sentence in any case.
RE: Woman Indicted for Role in MySpace Suicide Incident
GOOD...She does need some time to think about the internet fraud that she comitted that led to a sucicide...and maybe with some time in the Federal Pen that will cool the heals of others doing it!

RE: Woman Indicted for Role in MySpace Suicide Incident
Besides 'fraud' which may or may not apply (I don't know of 'fraud' only deals with contractual agreements under false pretenses), I believe the INTENT was to be cruel, to deceive, and to cause mental harm to a
minor. That intent was achieved, with the culmination being suicide. Now, DRIVING SOMEONE TO SUICIDE
may or may not be criminal, depending on the methods used. I believe this woman had crossed the line and will do jail time. The act was malicious, thought out, and designed to hurt. Jail for this babe....
RE: Woman Indicted for Role in MySpace Suicide Incident
On one of the cable new shows, they said how it was so difficult for them to find a law that they could convict her on....that there really wasn't a law on the books for this "crime". They put it under somethign like fraud for having a fake myspace page.....
Someone above stated this girl killed herself.....true. But this case is a case of an adult, well over 18yrs old btw, menacing with a 13yr old girl? Not only is that immoral/wrong, but dangerous, I think an adult esp one her age, having the lifetime of experience behind her, could be far more maniupulative than any 13yr old can be. And with that, that's like a dangerous weapon to be unloading on a 13yr old. I heard a doctor once talk about how ie just about anyone older than a kid....could get them to do just about anything, given time.....ie this woman had time....to talk to her, etc....and run her webs of deceit and really in my view help push this girl over the edge, for somethign completely false, this older woman/mom, wasn't a cool young boy who was interested in this girl, but this girl believed that! This girl still felt all of that, felt bad/depressed.
I figured there would be some law of an adult abusing a minor here....? but I guess not.
