They put the Polar bear on the "threatend" list today (due to global warming) even though their population has more then doubled since 1960.
And the stupid Senate voted againist drilling ANWR today[:@]
So much for becoming "oil independent" now.

I love Christmas lights. They remind me of the people who voted for Obama. They all hang together; half of them don't work, and the ones that do, aren't that bright.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do
not understand, no explanation is possible.
A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
Of course they voted against drilling in the ANWR. If they were to allow that, the speculation on the oil market would change, and might drive prices down at the pump. The Democrats can't have THAT before the election.

BINGO! And it's all President Bush's fault too! I'm really not sure how, but it has to be.......

polar bear is threatened ? wow ...... I'd like to know just HOW that comes about ? Voting ? who passes that stuff ? I'm not certain on the process but will in the coming hours

Determining whether a species is endangered is about more than the species' real numbers. This isn't just a feel-good measure promoted by bunny-huggers who are touting the global warming line. This was a decision by the USFWS, which generally does a very good job managing our wildlife. At the current rate polar ice caps are melting, it is estimated that 50% of the polar bear's habitat will have disappeared over the next 4 decades. It doesn't matter how many there are if there isn't habitat to support them. Of course everyone hopes that the melting ice caps are just part of a cyclical pattern, but there's no way to know that for sure. So I think the threatened status is warranted.

Wait... How is a vote by Democrats in the Democrat controlled Congress , against a Republican backed bill, Bush's fault? It's mostly your beloved Democrats who voted to prevent the drilling...
Quote:
But Stevens and Murkowski said they didn't think that the failed GOP proposal represented a referendum on drilling in ANWR. It failed 56-42, with six Republicans joining Democrats. Some Republicans had other reasons for voting against the package, both senators said.
If anything, the 42 votes show "a viable bloc of votes are going to stay with us in terms of ANWR," Stevens said.
He also said that while he supported the moratorium on oil deposits in the strategic reserve, he found the Democratic arguments "inconsistent."
Democrats don't want to open up ANWR to increase long-term supply, Stevens said, a move he believes will lower gas prices long-term. But the Democrats will support a halt to strategic reserve deposits to increase supply temporarily and theoretically lead to lower gas prices in the short term, Stevens said.
"They're the same people that say when we increase the supply by a million barrels a day, there could be no decrease in the price of gasoline," Stevens said. "They're siding with the extreme environmental movement and deciding that that's more important than the future of the country."
but if evolution is real, polar bears will adapt, no problems right ?
I don't know where evolution ever claimed that all species will adapt. Many don't adapt thus they have become extinct. I agree with the polar bear decision. Why not at least try to help the species. Maybe it won't help in the long run, but I think the polar bear is worthy of at least an effort.
