Not for or against gay marriage but I definitely don't believe its the governments job to be able to decide.
And, while I'm sure we'll get a slew of folks thumping their bibles on this on, I still feel that we asa societyare not to deny others the oppurtunity of shared oneness and community through the presence of the one whom they love. Some believe that, like God giving us his son and sharing himself with us, marriage is the ultimate experience of oneness we can share with another before entering heaven. This is probably the case, and I don't see why it is our job as mere humans to deny this to autonomous individuals.

RE: Gay marriage? For or against it?
I'm from Vermont and we have had civil unions here for a while. I don't care either way since it doesn't affect me. I do believe marriage should be between one man and one woman.

But whatever a pickle puffing pillow biter, or a carpet muncher wants to do in private doesn't matter. What matters is their attitude to try to force their beliefs on others. Demand acceptance as a Holy vow in matrimoney? No... It's wrong... [:'(]
There's a case for legal unions, that is, a very good legal argument why they should be allowed. I'm not in favor of same-sex marriage. But I don't base my opposition on religious views, which would be unconstitutional.

I'm against the special privlage these folk want to claim. Now the question leads to what if 5 people want to marry as one?
