My wife and I went to see Ben Stein's and fellow producers file, "EXPELLED! - No Intelligence Allowed" last Friday, opening day.
I didn't know what to expect. It took a while to get accustomed to the old news clips, movie clips that were inserted into the documentary for effect. But the more we watched it, the premise that Evolutionary adherents in the gov't controlled and funded institutions and research science organizations have now taken the stand that no one, not even those scientists of highest credentials, will even be allowed to mention or write a single paragraph that in anyway either casts doubt on any part of the elitists'"established"evolutionary dogma or print a word of the ever growing evidence in a number of fields of science pointing to the possibility of Intelligent Design in living organisms. Ben documents dozens of cases where such scientists have been summarily fired from their jobs and blacklisted, when they"™ve done just that.
He also showed the shocking connections of Evolutionary beliefs taken to the extreme that were part of the foundation of Eugenics in this country in the early 20th century that the Nazis embraced and used as justification for their fanatical attempts to create a more highly evolved race (species) of their own type that included forced sterilization and eventual killing of those the "śelites"ť in that Totalitarian system deemed subhuman and/or undesirable holding the human species back from "śevolving"ť to this mythical higher form of human.
By the end of the movie you could hear a pin drop in the packed theatre. Don"™t take my word for it. I'd recommend if anyone has an inclination to see this movie do go this week, since it is at least for now scheduled for a short opening in theatres. Then decide for yourself.

Those supporting the teaching of evolution have good reason to want to shut up the intelligent design advocates, but their arrogance isn't helping the cause. They need to work on PR.
The pisser with intelligent design'theories' (they dont conform to scientific conventions, can't pass scientific tests, so they're NOT scientific Theories)is that they infer that the 'designer' was intelligent. Evolution isn't intelligent, and it isn't pretty. What survives works, but its often a cobjob. The example that strikes me the most is the 3'-5' DNA replication in humans, and all DS DNA organisms. The Okazaki fragments produced cause major problems, and require major work to circumvent. Nobody with a intelligent mind in their head would 'design' such a system. I'd like to know why the 'Intelligent designer' included introns in Genetic code as well. Also what gives with Mitochondrial DNA, was the designer drunk at the drafting board, and he decided to throw in a organelle with its own, extraneous DNA, and coding system just for giggles?
Intelligent, I think not, but it does work, and its kept you, me, and the rest of our race (and many other similar organisms) alive.
obviously you never read (or read into enuff) The Bible, if it werent for sin, basically put wrongdoings, we wouldnt be born with anything that could kill us, nor could we be killed, nor would we have been born in reality. and by the way, id like to see you invent something half as complicated as a worm and not have any flaws in it, seeing as you dont believe in God. God doesnt make mistakes, He makes decisions.
Theres some big assumptions in your post Zeke. Matter of fact, I'm fairlywell read on Christian literature as well, read and discussed the Bible (King James and a study version)cover to coveras part of my religious confirmation, but thats neither here nor there.
If you want to approach the natural world working on the assumption that every word ofthe Bible is a literal fact ,as opposed to atheological, metaphorical, work, you're not objective, nor open to persuasion when confronted with contrary, real-world examinable facts.
I can't wait to see the movie. I saw Ben's overview of it and he's dead on target.

There are a couple of points that I think should be kept in mind here.
1- The theory of evolution could, someday, be shown to be in error. But whatever replaces it will not be the creation story in the Bible.
2- The theory of evolution is sufficient by itself. There is no need for any supplementation. But if someone feels the need to posit an Intelligent Designer guiding the process there is no reason why they shouldn't feel comfortable doing so. But it's inappropriate to teach that in a science class because there is no evidence for it.
3- One can believe in God and also accept the theory of evolution. I am an observant Roman Catholic and I am perfectly comfortable with evolution as the best explanation for the diversity of species.

...or print a word of the ever growing evidence in a number of fields of science pointing to the possibility of Intelligent Design in living organisms.
And just what might that evidence be? The reason Intelligent Design is not taught in science classes is because it is devoid of any real scientific content. It is justplain old religious creationism masquarading as science in thehope that it will pass muster with the courts. However, the judge in Dover, PA saw it for what it was, religious dogma, and thatallowing it into schools would violate the Constitution. What keeps ID out of classrooms is not some vast evolutionist conspiracy, it is the fact thatID is just the latest attempt by religious fanatics to replace realscience with religious dogma in the public schoolsand both the scientific community and the courts have seen through this attempted fraud.

Funny how one religion is allowed when another is not. Simply put, belief in the "theory" of evolution is a type of religion. Nobody saw it, nobody can reproduce it, there's not even historical records to verify it. Nobody can explain where life started, or where the thing that blew up or whatever that turned non-living matter into living matter came from, or where the matter that was changed came from, or what the catalyst was, etc. It's simply something that is based on faith--no more and no less than religious beliefs. At least those who believe in God are honest enough to admittheir religion isbased on faith.
I do NOT believe that the school is where religion should be taught--ANY religion. However, if one is to be mentioned, the other should get an equal amount of time, and it should be made very clear that science cannot prove one any more than they can disprove the other.
Just my opinion of course.
