I'm currently putting together my class schedule for next semester and there is a possibility that I may do an independent study with one of my professors. It'd most likely be based on current events and recently conducted studies in the environmental sciences. I was wondering that, if I do take the class, if I posted the weeks reading/discussion topics if y'all would be willing to provide your insights and opinions on matters so that in going to class I'd have a diverse array of opinions on which to speak. Of course, names would remain private, merely opinions put forth. The reason I'm asking for help is the class can range from 1 to 4 credits based upon how much work and extra effort we want to put it. Typically, it would just be me and the professor talking (1 credit), but hopefully going out and doing a little extra "research" may persuade her to give me an extra credit or 2. Thanks for any help.
I'd be more than willing to bounce my thoughts off your subjects. I think it might make for some interesting discussions and prompt us all to do a little digging on the topics....
Besides, we'd be helping out a felow hunter first, even if the hunter's party choices are suspect!
I guess I should also be a little more specfic about the types of things we'll likely be discussing. Our envi sci department has 4 core courses: hydrology, ecology, geology and atmospheric science. Likely discussed will be things like global warming, decrased drinking water quality and the affects of things like PCPs in water...things about our environment that are currently "hot" per se...My prof focuses on aqueous geochemistry so I'd say she'll be likely to assign a lot of readings and such based in hydrology and chemistry. just anything that is new and debatable, we'll probably talk about it

Sounds like this might be fun AND educational.....ain't science grand ?
I'm game, expecially for debunking hippie granola science. LOL.
