Default How bad do you think this will get?

Record number of Americans recieving assitance and food stamps 1-6 in West Virginia 1-10 in ohio.

Gas prices are seriously putting a pinch on many. Truckers threating to strike becaise of this.

Because of the price of fuel and other factors groceries have jumped over 12%.

Lending institutions in trouble, and it will most likely getting worse.

Bankruptcy on the rise which will also put a pinch on lending.

A war that is putting our great grand children in debt.

The dollar is sinking.

Ips , I know what the Dems might do. But this is a serious question. I'm not bashing the adminstration, this isn't good no matter what party is in power.

I agree that we are in a tough part of the business cycle at the moment. I was just trying to point out that a $2 Trillion tax increase is NOT what is needed at the moment, and if the (D)'s win, we're not even within screaming distance of the bottom... It'll get a LOT worse.

A lot worst before it gets better with regards to fuel prices and food prices. Not enough of the folks out there care enough to ask for an end the ethanol and yes to more drilling. So far the call of the day is alternative fuels and conservation. As long as the remains the focus, fuel price need to and will continue to rise to make alternative fuels more attractive.

That's utter nonsense. This war is has been our cheapest war to date when compared to GDP. A bigger problem by far is SS and Medicare.

We need to put the nail in the coffin with these programs. We also need to get rid of Coporate taxes completely. Let's face it, they don't pay the taxes we pay them anyway. By bringing them to zero, it will put the big open for business sign out for the rest of the world and we would see a masive up swing in investing in the country. Also for you guys who are very concern with our dollar value, this would send it's value through the roof.

Gas prices will get worse until we increase our refining capacity and start pumping more oil here in the U.S.

Indepedent truckers will likely be a thing of the past. They're going to have to start working for the big companies in order to survive.

The number of small lenders will probably start to decrease. This may be a goodthing.

Americans are being forced to consider more careful financial management and limit their spending. Also a good thing in the long run. People who didn't and don't plan will continue to be hit hard.

I don't think the war debt is all that worrisome. In the long run, I expect American businesses to benefit from our prolonged presence in the Middle East.

I also don't think the dollar has much lower to go. We may see a rebound over the next couple of years. Depends on the global economy, which is probably going to start slowing down.

So, you admit that you don't vote based upon what the candidates intend to do, and you don't care what a proposed $2 Trillion tax increase will do to an economy that is hovering on the brink of a recession.

You sound like you are more anti-Bush than pro-democrat... Of course, Bush isn't running in this election. But then, there aren't any Democrats running in this election either. There's McCain, a moderate Republican, and there are two Socialists.

I wouldn't mind voting for a Democrat, if I thought one of them had a rational solution to a problem. Unfortunately, I haven't heard a rational solution for any problem from any democrat lately...

Wahoo, please take the time to study what the other wars cost this nation. You need to put it in respect of GDP. This war is the cheapest by far. We have been able to fight the terrorist on less than 1% of GDP. WW2 consumed either 5 or 10% of GDP. I'm sure someone will correct me. We are now running and out of control government at 3 trillion dollars/year and growing.

I know your a socialist right now because you go to school and don't have to fork over half your pay check to the government. I believe that will change in the future when you have your bills, retirement and family to worry about.

Just think of this, National Defense is in our constiutution, welfare paments aren't. SS and Medicare aren't in our constitution but we are left holding the bag until we can reverse thiswrong course. Before the big new raw deal of the 30's, our government was only consuming less then 5% of GDP. Since then we have ballooned to over 20% of GDP and folks likeBarack and Hillary want to take that to 35%+. That is a major drag on our economy. It is money wasted each and everyday that once it's spent it, more needs to be stolen fromUS tomorrow. Today, because of Bush's tax cuts, he has been able to move up the tax free day into May. If you don't know what that is, it's the day when we Americans get to work and keep our own money and not give it to the Government. 5 months of working for the government. We can't continue down this road. SS and Medicare will crash, I just wish we would let it happen today, so the old farts who refused to fix it when they had the chance, get to feel the pinch like you and I will when we retire.
