Aught Six, I am thinking that it is an interesting topic but I am not an economist. Being a republican type, I am not overwhelmingly keen on new regulation. However, there are a crapload of home buyers falling out of home ownership and the economic ripples are happening.... so some changes will be coming.

Ok, let us get a financial genius up on this!!

I'm not for regulation either. However, when the Federal Government steps in and doesn't allow the bottom to be found by putting the tax payers at risk, regulation is what you get.

Another comment on this stricter control. One must question the ability for our Government to look after this industry.Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae used to be government institutions but are now private backed by our government. You the tax payer is on the hook if they fail. Take a look at the following link and see what your on the hook for.
