I'M VOTING FOR THIS GUY...
>
> WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENTAL
CANDIDATE, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?
> "My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has
been completed.
>
> Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our
mission in Iraq is complete.
>
> This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American
forces from Iraq This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now
time to begin the reckoning.
>
>
> Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries
which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short .
The United Kingdom , Spa in , Bulgaria , Australia , an d Poland are some of
the countries listed there.
>
> The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the
world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing
copies of both lists later this evening.
>
> Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those
nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved
during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi
war. THEN EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO
IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.
>
> The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world
Hellholes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.
>
> Need help with a famine ? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France.
>
> In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money
t oward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home . On that
note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you
down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.
>
> Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China .
>
> I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France
, Germany , and Russia . Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are
retiring from NATO as well. Bonne chance, mez amies.
>
> I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN
diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking
tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and
crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps
have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those ti ckets tomorrow or
watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the
finest chop shops in the world. I love New York
>
> A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely
to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not
pissing us off for a change.
>
> Mexico is also on List 2 its president and his entire corrupt government
really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra thousand
tanks and infantry divisions s itting around. Guess where I am going to put
'em? Yep, border security.
>
> Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty -
starting now.
>
> We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for
oil in Alaska - which will take care of this country's oil needs for
decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I
refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.
>
> It is time for Ameri ca to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens.
Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, "darn
tootin."
>
> Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the
world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the
planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America It is time to eliminate
homelessness in America . To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank
you guys. We owe you and we won't forget.
>
> To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to
speak Arabic.
>
> God bless America . Thank you and good night. "
>
> If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English,
thank a soldier.
Isolationism will be the downfall of this country. The world is catching up to America. If we pout like a spoiled child, everyone outside will just keep on playing without us.
This emailmakes some valid points, but foreign policy can never be simplified to this degree.
Also, U.S. citizens who speak Arabic can pull in $200k a year working for the State Department or DOD. I'm taking 101 and 102 this summer.
I don't agree w/ everything that this contains, however,I thinkthe point the author is trying to get across is that we have problems here at home.
The poeple we try to help are planning our demise. The Pres. of IRAN said..."God willing, we will see a world without the U.S."
100K a year won't do you any good if gas is $10.00/gal., will it?
The general point of this email is that since the world doesn't bow to our wishes, we should pack up, go home, and ignore them. My point is that if we don't keep our noses in the globe's business, we won't see the next attack coming. 9/11 was big enough a shock as it is. Now is not the time to put the blinders back on. Even if our allies don't do our bidding for us, they can still be of incredible use in the support of our interests.
Do you really think that gas prices are going to get any cheaper if we simply allow terrorists to have the Middle East to themselves?

I don't read it that way.

They sure aren't going in the right direction now.
Idon't think the point was to put blinders on again but to put an end to helping every one else that isn't willing to help us when we need it.
Keep the money at home and take care of our problemsinstead of sending it to some third world country where it is obviously doing no good what so ever.
Supply our own oil and fuel instead of relying on corrouptdictators to supply our oil and hold our balls in their hands to do with as they wish.
Keep watching what every one else is doing but quit funding the rest of the worlds problems and start funding for our own problems.

It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

If we stopping assisting the less fortunate around the world, we'll have a few billion more enemies. Economic aid buys more loyalty than one might imagine.

America is the freest, more prosperous, most educated country on the planet. If Americans can't take care of themselves, no one in the federal government can. Welfare is not a cure to our domestic problems. In many cases, it makes them worse.

We import over half our oil from North and South America...

I think we need to get to theroot of our problems, not throw money around hoping it will fix everything. Giving economic aid to ****hole countries keeps their respectivepopulations pacified. I'd hate to have a bunch of people around the world lose all hope and blame us for the loss. We will be in serious trouble, particularly when Russia or even China picks up the slacks and befriends our newfound enemies...
The original post simplifies things a bit much, but I think it makes some good points. Aid to starving third world countries has only compounded their problems, not solved them. Somalia is a good example. I think we are wising up as a nation when it comes to foreign intervention. We no longer dump as many resources into central an south America to fight the war on drugs. Instead, we have begun to concentrate on countries with natural resources we want. The only problem we have is the psychological need for some moral purpose for military intervention.
I agree, the email quote over simplifies. Notwithstanding, I find isolationism a pretty attractive philosophy. To those who say it is impossible or impractical I say . . . maybe yes, and maybe no. Sure, the isolationism of a North Korea is impractical, but as in all things there are degrees. Couldn't we be just a little less involved in policing the whole freakin' planet? Is there an argument to be made that our meddling brings some of our problems to our doorstep? Since all this meddling is accomplished with tax payer money, is there a case to be made to redirect this money to other internal uses that may contribute to our security in other ways? I'm not talking about increasing our spending for welfare for irresponsible shiftless louts. Personally, I may be a contrarian or an ignoramous, but I see a lot of our foreign meddling -- both military and foreign aid -- being motivated by protecting the business of interests of major companies, and my challenge would be to tell these corporate interests to protect themselves and let me keep my money in my own pocket.
