Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default SCOTUS Tells World Court To Pound Sand

The fact that Bush and the US State Department sided with the illegal alienmurderer, the world court and the Mexican government makes me puke.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/mar/25/usa2?gusrc=rss&feed=worldnews

"US courts are not bound by the international court of justice or by direct orders from the president, the supreme court ruled today when it refused to allow a fresh hearing for a Mexican on death row.

In a 6-3 decision, the supreme court ruled that courts in Texas were not compelled to comply with a ruling from the ICJ to allow a new hearing for the Mexican inmate because he had not been given access to consular assistance. State courts were also not obliged to follow orders from George Bush, who had instructed Texas to comply with the ICJ, the ruling said.

The decision could put the US at odds with EU countries and Mexico which had urged the supreme court to order a new hearing for José Ernesto MedellÃ*n.

It was also a rebuff for Bush who had put been put in the awkward position of trying to shield MedellÃ*n, a gang member convicted in 1993 of raping and strangling to death two teenage girls. The intervention was all the more difficult for Bush because Texas is his home state. As governor he signed the death warrant for more than 150 prisoners.
But the supreme court decided today that in the MedellÃ*n case Bush had overstepped his powers by instructing the Texas courts to comply with the ICJ."

It's about time checks and balances started rolling back some of the madness that has been growing in this country.

Good decision by the Supreme Court. If somebody wants to come to Texas, not only are they protected by Texas law, but they are also subject to it. When someone comes here, it is their responsibility to know the laws and punishment, and by choosing to break those laws, they are also choosing to accept the punishment.

I was disappointed by the lack of backbone displayed by Bush in this case. Between the border and crap like this, he has caved in to the demands of Mexico over and over. The other countries views do not suprise me, but these are not their laws, and their laws do not control. They may run their countries as they see fit, and they should recognize our right to do the same.

Another thought, Why is there not all this crying about the turds in the Middle East. Their laws allow deathfor just about anything. Lots of good people have been put to death inthe Muslim countries.

Ditto, couldn't have said it better. Just substitute Michigan where he says Texas.

I'm kinda disappointed myself. The decision is too politely worded. I wish they had just told the World Court to take a flying **** at the moon.
