It's time to end SS and Medicare. We need to come to the reality these programs need to end. I was reviewing the project cost of these programs again last night and bottom line we can't afford them. Medicare already pays out more money then it brings in. The IOU's will run out in just a few years, 2019. SS is projected to go to pay out more then it brings in by 2019. The IOU's run out by 2041. The tax increases required to sustain these failing ponsi schemes we can't afford. It would require just about 100% of our pay checks going to the government.
The time to act is today. At minimum, 1/2 the folks onboth systems need to be turned away.If not fully turned away, at least major cuts in their benifits. The young people need to be able to divert their money away from the government and into their own private accounts. Those of us who are middle age, also need to be able to divert some money away as a start and begiven a firm date when all payroll taxes going to the Government end. Let's set that date for 2025 at the latest.

I've been saying this for years, give me back what I put in now so that I can invest it in something that will be there when I need it. Social Security and Medicare were well intended when they were conceived, but the people who designed them never anticipated a changing population. They always struck me as being rather socialist anyway. Can we please get rid of the parasitic minimum wage too, I'm tired of rewarding mediocrity.

That's the thing. It's not your money. Itis and has always been the Governments money so they could choose how to spend it. You don't have an account with your name on it, saying this is your money.

I have a number which I was assigned. I guess that means you are # --------------- dummy account. On account of we are a bunch of crooks[:@]
I like the idea of social security as providing some basis for retirement, BUT inconjunction withsavings and other retirement plans. I've been paying into it for about twenty years and would like to think that when i do retire that it will at least provide money for groceries and utilities. I dont think that is is reallya faulty system but rather one that is being eroded by faulty management.

Hold on a sec... When did you become a Socialist? It hasn't "always been the Government's money". It was our money until the government took it, on the basis of a promise by that government that they would provide a small "security blanket" later in life. We certainly understand that there isn't a specific "account" with our names on it. But, the promise of a future benefit was the basis for the implementation of the tax.
