Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default I wanted to love David Patterson....

At first I was soooooo excited. I watched his swearing in. I loved his sense of humor. I thought, "Yay! Finally! A role model for my granddaughter!" Now I wonder. Okay, cocaine and pot use are excusable during your teens and early twenties, but then he and his wife startedadmitting toseveral affairs. They say they were during separations. But do I really want my granddaughter to think that sexual strayings are okay as long as you're on a "break"? Hell, no. Vows are forever, no breaks, no moments of insanity. No.

Why on earth would anyone want a politician to be a role model for a child???

Took the words right out of my mouth. Parents should be the role model for their children. Poilticians are as imperfect as the rest of us.

Yep, he should be in jail like the rest of the law breakers who have done time for drugs. Definitely shouldn't be the governor of New York.

Jail? Hell if everyone who dabbled in pot and/or peruvian marching powder was put in jail, this site would be a lonely place and our country would be left without leadership.[]

Aren't parents a part of "the rest of us."

I think the original post wasn't SERIOUSLY contemplating a politician as role model. I think she was just trying to be funny...

I remember when Clinton was first elected. New York Times columnist Anne Quindlen said we needed a president who had tried drugs as a youth, for his knowingness. Then after George Bush was elected, a conservative columnist said the same thing!

I just think we go wrong in trying to set up these leaders as moral paragons. That leads them to lie and us to be disappointed.

Hey because they obviously screwed up the rest of his life. You really think we should lock up everyone that has smoked a joint or snorted a line because they admit to it years later?

Guess Bush have been thrown in Jail when it came out that he did all of that and some acid.
