Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Cheney On A Diplomatic Push In The Middle East

Cheney urges Arabs to counter Iran in Iraq

***

It's a noble mission he's on, but I'm not so sure that some of thesecountriesare ready to legitimize the young and controversial Iraqi government, even if it makes sense in the long run. Every country that sends diplomats to Baghdadcan expect toface new plots from al Qaeda.

Still,I think that Arabs generally want peace in Iraq and anywhere else possible. They've been getting their ***** kicked for years now in several countries. They get tired of war too when it goes on long enough without any victory. Understandably, al Qaeda's murdering ofthousands of Muslims peryear has also soured a manypeople's mood. We will always be at odds with a number of Middle Easternerson some issues, but we can still work together for the common good, as we see across the region.

I just hope the Hillary or Obamadoesn't take the White House and flushallthis down the drain...

I don't want to get too optimistic about the near-impossible, but if we can find a way to cement ties in the Middle East and convince a future Israeli president to agree to organizing a Palestinian state, we will have very good friends in that part of the world.

Well today as I was taking my kids to school, they played a clip from the only Iraq war vet elected to congress. I think he's a Dem from the state of Pa. I want to say Murphy, but I think I'm wrong. Anyway, he was voicing his frustration with Bush blocking all efforts to pull the troops. What made me laugh was his comment why. He wanted to pull troops and send them to Afghanistan. He said thereare more Al Qaeda there.

First, I've never seen a brake down as to the numbers between the two places. Second, he didn't say Al Qaeda wasn't in Iraq but more were in Afghanistan. Why would you surrender and retreat if you know they are there in Iraq?

Eh, Murtha? He fought and was highly decorated in Vietnam, but according to the House website, no one sitting in Congress has served in this second Iraq War.

Veterans in Congress

But to answer your question, it's because liberals are morons. Simple, really. Just after Bush was re-elected Murtha was quoted as saying:

Quote:
"A premature withdrawal of our troops based on a political timetable could rapidly devolve into a civil war which would leave America"s foreign policy in disarray as countries question not only America"s judgment but also its perseverance."
He's absolutely right here. But, as you mentioned, less than a year later, he wanted to pull out of the country. The Democrats don'thave the brains or the guts for leadership onnational policy issues. It's even more unfortunate since we're the ones whom al Qaeda declared war on.

No it was Murphy. He is an Iraq war vet. He is the only Iraq war vet to be elected so far. He was a Capt in the 82th.

FYI, I say so far. There are a bunch of Republican Iraq war vets running this fall. They are tired of not have good representation up on the hill.

Figures no one's updated that list since the 2006 election. Guess all the interns were busy working on more important matters.

It think it isan effort critical to our foreignrelations. Cheney might not command much affection, but he's a smart man. When he talks, the politically powerful listen.

It seems like Iraq is on the verge of getting its **** together. If the Iraqi people believe in their government, much of the Middle East will as well.
