Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Detention for Skipping Class ?

[8D]

SEASIDE, Calif."” A 15-year-old girl who stopped an out-of-control school bus she was riding on was handed a Saturday detention instead because she was skipping school.[/b]

Marina High School student Amanda Rouse was on a bus with 40 elementary school students Wednesday morning when the driver fell out of her seat after a turn and hit her head.

Rouse jumped up and applied the brakes, bringing the bus to a halt after striking two parked cars. No one was injured.

She said had asked the bus driver for a ride because she felt sick at school.

"She is in trouble with school because she made the wrong decision," said Rouse's grandmother, Sally Correll. "But I can't help but believe that she was where God wanted her to be."

A spokesperson for the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District could not immediately be reached Saturday.

Maybe she was the one distracting the bus driver...

Policy is policy. Every time you make an excuse, you invite other students to push the limits further. The girlgets credit where it's due, but still she screwed up.

Wherever you are at, is where you are supposed to be. If she had not been there...then there might have been some dead kids...
I could overlook the skipping school thing, to me very minor, saving the bus thats kinda a major thing.

That "philosophy" could be used to try to justify an awful lot of very poor choices...

There's nothing wrong with the school if they want to punish her for doing something wrong. I mean she skipped school and just hitched a ride with a bus driver, you can't have kids doing that. It's not like she skipped school because she knew the bus was going to go out of control. The school also has the right to decide that they're going to ignore it and maybe they should, but to imply that the school is wrong for enforcing their rules is stupid.

Two different things. Luck, yea. She did skip school, but to the luck of the younger kids she was able to help them.

So let me get this right; If I do something right while doing something wrong, it would be a lack of common sense not to exonerate the wrong doing that took place before the good deed occurred?

So if I rob a bank, and during the robbery a man falls to the floor and has a heart attack. And let"™s say I stop in the middle of the robbery and give him CPR and save his life, should the robbery I was committing all of the sudden disappear?.
