John Coleman, who founded the cable network in 1982, suggests suing for fraud proponents of global warming, including Al Gore, and companies that sell carbon credits.
"Is he committing financial fraud? That is the question," Coleman said.
RE: Weather Channel Founder: Sue Al Gore for Fraud
ah the weather channel...funded by its viewers and sponsors, if there ever was an alternative agenda....ever noticed how they seem to always predict snow/rain when everyone else says there won't be much? They have to keep an audience.
This may be a little bit more entertaining if it was NOAA's national weather service or something
RE: Weather Channel Founder: Sue Al Gore for Fraud
Gee, that made a lot of sense.
Predicting snow and rain isn't too hard a few days in advance when you have live doppler radar indicating precipitation and its movement. The global warming nuts think they can predict a rapid rise in temperatures years, even decadesin advance. When proven wrong, they ignore those facts and invent new ones that support their claims, all the while getting more and more grant money from their liberal institutions.
RE: Weather Channel Founder: Sue Al Gore for Fraud
The weather channel is a television channel/internet site that is no different than your basic ESPN in that, if people don't watch it they go out of business. And, predicting rain and snow events a few days in advance may not be "too hard" but studying doplar radar is hardly all that goes into it. Doplar radar means nothing without an understanding of the adiabatic processes, frontal movements, etc. and intense study of the daily balloon radiosondes. However, most atmospheric scientists agree the weather channel tends to create a worst case scenario because that is what will attract more viewers and keep them coming back. It sounds "better" to see 90% chance of 4-6 inches than it does 60% chance of 2. Disclaimer: I use the weather .com as well just because its easy to keep up with and user friendly and because I like to think classes may be canceled (although they haven't been for snow ever here), however, the more accurate info comes from somewhere else.

OK.I agree there is an effort tosensationalize the weather, and it brings in better ratings. But how does your point fit into whether Gore should be sued forcommiting a fraud? The weather channel is not advocating a tax on carbon use, asking people to ride bikes or walk, or asking third world nations not to have electricity, etc.

it doesn't really, just the fact that if someone is going to sue him, i wish it were a bit more of a "reputable" source
RE: Weather Channel Founder: Sue Al Gore for Fraud
When it comes down to it, actual temperature readings from objective sources will bring down Gore and his cronies. Whether someone is a doctor in thefield who authored 20 books, or a snot-nosed, pimple faced 17 year old compiling thedata, all that matters is that the temperature readings don't match Gore's direforecasts over time. If we see a continued cooling, he's done. In fact, his theory doesn't explain how we've seen this past year's cooling, so he should be done already.

Well this is the original founder of TWC so how the channel is now has little to do with how reputable the source is right?
I have to wonder that myself because Coleman no longer has anything to do with TWC. He sold his interest.
I find it interesting Whahoo, you have a problem with a capitalist corporation selling the worst case scenario for viewer ship and to make money.I might add, not by stealing it from peoples pay checks. On the other hand, near and dear to your heart are the very scientist perpetuating this fraud of global warming to make money stolen from people's pay checks.
