Default The US National Debt by Year

Take a look at the national debt by year. WhenReagan took office in 1980, the US national debt wasless than one trillion dollars after 200 years. Last September the national debt stood at just over 9 trillion dollars. About two trillion of that amount was accrued under Clinton.

Reagan,Bush I, Clinton andBush IIhave added8 trillion dollars to the US national debt.

It's still not that high although that's not counting future payments for SS and Medicare. Look at ***an's debt. Almost 200% of their GDP.

Does that take in account inflation?

Yes, it'd be nice to compare apples with apples.
The English settlers in Massachussetts began shooting at the Queen's troops over a tax amounting to
1/10 of 1 penny. What's that in 2008 dollars ? C'mon out there....is there anyone out there with an
algorhythm for this calculation ?

Ask and ye shall recieve:

9 trillion 2007 dollars = 4,992,613,365,316.22 1988 Dollars

2 trillion in 1988 dollars = 3,605,326,245,578.39 2007 Dollars

As for the man with the question about historical taxation, 1/10 of a pennyin 1800 would be worth 1 penny today
