RE: Chinese Commies Having Hard Time Managing Economy
They couldn't control their formerly weak assed economy when they had 1/10th the money and a tight hold on the reins, what made them think that they could handle an economy that breaks every one of their tight assed rules? At the rapid upwardly spiraling rate that their economy is growing I expect them to crash and burn shortly, they just can't handle it and remain commies. Dumbasses...

I predicted, about three years ago, on this board that the infrastructure would crumble then the economy. I guess I got them switched. Well, it might happen together.

Belittle and guffaw at China at your own risk. The economic and historic forces in play there are truly frightening. They are going to have a dominating effect on the entire world economy for a long time to come. China's increasing consumption of commodities is driving up commodities prices right now -- oil, heavy metals, etc. I read that by 2050 China will have the world's largest economy. China's problems are largely caused by their rapid advance from an overwhelmingly agrarian economy to a high technology economy in a time frame of, ohhhhhh, maybe 1980 to 2010, 30 years? The US, by contrast, had the benefit of gradually progressing from an agrarian economy to a high technology economy over the time of, ohhhhh, maybe 1800 to 2000, 200 years? China is going to have some problems, and they are going to be problems that appear in high contrast as a result of this development time compression. But if you think these guys are chumps and idiots and slackers, you are fooling yourself. Education is a VERY HIGH cultural value in the asian countries, and this is very true in China. Hard work is a VERY HIGH cultural value also. Don't expect to beat these guys on our superior education or better work ethic. Perhaps we are more well rounded, but the question is how does that promote economic success.
If there is a weakness of China and asian cultures in general, it could be in Confucianism which is deeply rooted. This entails dogged subservience to superiors and a hierarchical chain of command. It has been observed to be a problem and a limiting throttle on growth and progress in some asian companies. While we do not have this weakness in our culture, we probably have other weaknesses that are equaly crippling.

I agree with what you are saying, but if they do not clean the place up, they will crumble. Their infrastructure is in trouble and it appears money is valued higher than drinking water.

China is now at the point where the country cannot feed itself. If there is a major bobble in their economy, they will not be able to pay for enough food to support the country. The result=famine.
