Obviously Chavez has reason to be on edge, but I think this move is more of a show of force than preparation for the use of force. An interational military campaign is not in his best interests as a wanabe socialist dictator. Obviously he's shaken that Colombia, which receives a lot of aid from the U.S., is launching cross-border airstrikes. But he would be a fool to start a war, and I think he knows it.

The real question we face is whether or not the Dems in congress reconize the urgency to ratify the free trade agreement with Columbia. They have been playing stupid politics with it and fail to see it's about national security for us.I guess that shouldn't suprise me since they are blocking several national security people and leaving their positions vacant right now. If they refuse, Cloumbia will be left exposed and fall to Chavez's pressure.

Their isn't enough business that would come from Columbia to register on the foreign trade meter for us. However, for them it would stregthen their capitalism base and bring them closer ties to us.It's all about security for us. If we don't do it, it will be a smack in their face and allow Chavez in roads. I don't think we want to strengthen Chavez's influence down there, do you?

If ia deal is going to happen with Columbia, it really needs to happen soon. If either Clinton or Obama get elected, they'll cozy up quickly with fellow Socialist Chavez... Three peas from the same rancid pod.[:'(]
