Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Michelle Obama to kids: don't take high paying jobs or join corporate America

Did you hear this? I just saw a written blurb about it on TV but didn't get the whole story. Where does she expect kids/college graduates to work, the People's Republic of Socialism?

I think you should have waited for some verification before getting on your high horse.

That's why I posted this, Einstein, to see if anyone else heard anything and can give the full story!

Most people don't graduate from college. And more than half of the ones who do take liberal arts degrees. I'm planning to do that myself, although I have a career and graduate work in mind. Amediocre student with a B.A. in psychology doesn't exactly have a lot of options. Sales rep for an evil corporation, maybe administrative assistant, mayberetail?

Higher education is a business, and budgets are tight everywhere even with higher overall enrollment. A lot of colleges will take almost anyone who can pay for it, and it shows. Degrees don't necessarily mean success in this age. Things are too competitive, too global for that now.

Why the name calling?

You should research the story if you needed details. You go ahead and post allegations you know nothing about. Then you feel your opinions should be taken seriously?

An excellent student with a B.A. in psychology doesn't have a lot of options. That is where my wife was 15 years ago. She just graduated with a Nurse Practitioner degree last year.

My wife also teaches nursing clinicals at the local university. EVERY semester she has 1-2 students that cause MAJOR problems. They are on their last step toward graduation. The school will NOT kick them out. Whenever they have tried, the student brings a lawyer in and the school backs off. When I was in college, we toed the line. We would have NEVER thought about pulling some of the stunts that they pull these days.

The thread was clearly to get more information, and you jumped on me for not having the information. Sometimes people post here to see if anyone else has information to add to a breaking story, and you knew that was all I was doing.

Anyone with intelligent discourse on here should be taken seriously, orhave their arse handed to them by someone with an opposing position. Each thread toits own, make your points in that thread instead of batching them into aone shot question of credibility.

Read the first thread, then the second. He or she jumped on me for getting on my high horse when I was clearly asking for more information, but it does sound incredible. I read on MSNBC in writing exactly what I posted, so know there is something behind it.

You don't criticize someone for posting before knowing the whole story when they posted saying essentially "has anyone seen this, and fill me in on the whole story."

Oh, I agree that he could've handled it a little more appropriately other than telling you to "get off your high horse". It's pretty obvious that he happens to take a fancy to Michelle Obama and took offense to what you posted.
