remember the Terri Schiavo debates ? this baby was declared brain dead - if they'd have pulled the plug like they did Schiavo, ya'll would have said the baby could never have recovered, it was dead anyway, there was no chance, etc

declared BRAIN DEAD this baby was- either the doctors were wrong and this baby was never brain dead (highly unlikely), or there is no such thing as unrecoverable "brain dead"and Schiavo was allowed to starve to death and THAT death was a killing.

Which is it ?

The doctors were wrong in their earlier diagnosis then, once the brain actually dies it cannot "recover". The baby was probably just in such a deep coma that brain activity couldn't be accurately measured, there are verified examples of this happening. Doctors are fallible too, andsometimes they're wrong.While we could reargue the merits of the Schiavo case ad nauseum, it's an irrefutable fact that it was handled legally and according to the wishes of both Ms. Schiavo and her family. Let it go.

I listened to the video twice and I didn't hear the term "brain-dead" mentioned.

It actually is not unusual for babies who drown in cold water to recover. The little body cools quickly and this prevents brain damage. The doctors warned mom that he might suffer some brain damage, but that would be only appropriate under the circumstances. I'm glad to see he has recovered and seems ot have suffered no ill effects.

So who decided he was brain dead the reporter that posted the video, no one on the video stated he was brain dead.
