Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default McCain's Son

Is it true that McCains son is in the Marines and recently served in Iraq? Its amazing that he has said virtually nothing about this. Most politicians are shouting it from the rooftops if they have a distant relative even serving in the military.

No not true. There have been several Republican's with sons overseas. I bet there have been some Dem's kids as well. The only one who used it as a campaign issue was the idiot from Va. that I can recall.

I did a google search and all the recent stories discuss his son's service in Iraq. There may be a few politicians not saying much, but the ones here in Ohio with anyone in the service sure lets you know about it quickly.

From 2006

This September, Senator John McCain's youngest son, Jimmy, 18, will report to a U.S. Marine Corps depot near Camp Pendleton in San Diego. After three months of boot camp and a month of specialized training, he will be ready to deploy. Depending on the unit he joins, he could be in Iraq as early as this time next year, and his chances of seeing combat at some point are high

Look like he has two in the military.

Sen. McCain's father, Admiral John S. McCain Jr., commanded U.S. forces in the Pacific during Vietnam, where he was responsible for air strikes that may have endangered his imprisoned son. His grandfather, Admiral John S. McCain Sr., served in the Pacific in WW II and was present at the ***anese surrender aboard the U.S.S. Missouri.

Another of Sen. McCain's seven children, Jack, 20, just completed his first year at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.

Sen. McCain said Jimmy was well aware of the family's Navy background but had friends in the Corps, had read about the service branch and "he just wanted to join up.

"I don't think there's anything unusual about Jimmy," McCain said. "There are, thank God, lots of young men and women like him."

I'm not a big Bill Maher fan, but he made some amusing comment about Mit Romney. Romney had stated that none of his 5 kids had time to serve in the military because they were providing a valuable service to their country by working in his presidential campaign. Maher stated that since he dropped out, then it was time to expect to see all five of them marchoff to the recruiters office.
