Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Hey I think you should move to Utah, I just found out we have a fornication law here.

76-7-104. Fornication.

(1) Any unmarried person who shall voluntarily engage in sexual intercourse with another is guilty of fornication.
(2) Fornication is a class B misdemeanor.

Here is the link if you dont believe me http://www.livepublish.le.state.ut.u...-j.htm&2.0

Not bad for a state whos majority of residents are part of a cult religion.

Many states have laws like these on the books. Better check them before you left. You just might be wasting your money.

Not to split hairs here, and to definitely play devil's advocate,
but the CIVIL WAR was a war over 'States Rights vs. Federalism'.
Do you agree we have religious freedom here in this country ?
Do you agree we have majority rule here in this country ?

Then the majority rules, as long as legislation is not unconstitutional.

So what if Utah is ruled by a majority of people who belong to a religion you do not subscribe to ?
Until the people of Utah decide to change the laws under which they live, uh...no fornicatin' !
And if you feel the need to fornicate in Utah...well then....just 'walk it off'....

It really isnt enforced, bigger fish to fry I guess. I am a member of the majority religion in utah, but I do agree with you it needs to be off the books. Its just a waste of paper.

Lots of laws like that all over the place. They come from a different time.....
I am unfamiliar with Mormon teachings tho'....is 'fornication between unmarrieds' still a sin in the
Mormon religion ? It seems Utah has been secularized...a good thing, generally speaking.

Yes fornication between unmarried persons is still a sin, but is forgivable. What I find funny about it though is for the most part talking about sex is a taboo to an extent. But yet when you get married the church encourages sex between husband and wife, they call it bonding. There are some kids that are so sheltered that I wonder if the bedroom scene will go something like this.

"Well dear that was a nice ceramony, and the reception wasnt it nice, the jensens gave a nice gift didnt they, well good night."

But I think there are those in every religion, i guess

Yes there are. More to the point tho', isn't 'innocence' a nice thing ? I mean, have we become so jaded
and 'worldly' that the discovery of wife by husband (and vice versa) is looked down upon as something to be ridiculed ? It's a shame that 'the sinful' is held up as the standard, and those who are 'chaste' (for lack of a better term) are snickered at ? I'm pretty old fashioned but I don't hold to the old ways, but still, it was a NICER world way back when, in certain ways. I could be wrong, I don't know....

The same law is in force in IL. No prosecutions in ages, though.
