McCain says no new taxes

Time will tell. It's kinda odd that he didn't support the Bush tax cuts initially, and suddenly thinks they're necessary. But then he has changed his position on several things to shift his platform from moderate to conservative. Jockeying for the nomination, or has he truly had a change of heart? Doesn't really matter as long as he follows through on his promises. I don't really trust him, but I'd rather him get the chance to prove his campaign promises right than for Obama or Clinton to get the chance to prove their promises right.

true dat! I will be holding my nose come November. I dislike McCain to the point of not voting, but Chris and others reminded me of what's at stake, supreme court and outright socialism.

I found the rest of that article even more interesting--McCain said he wants to send a signal to America that government is "going to stop the earmark pork-barrel spending." If he accomplishes just that, McCain will have done something well.

I will keep my expectations of McCain very high. I generally think it's unwise to make promises like these, but if he means what he says, I'll give him all the support I can to change things.

They can promise anything they please while running for office because they know that when they can't pull it off there's always Congress to blame for it.

And couple that with a Dem controlled Senate and the most do nothing Congress in history, he's going to have a tough row to hoe.
