Stop Internet Hunting

In a despicable new innovation on the "canned hunt," computer users can now log onto an Internet site to aim and fire a weapon at captive animals from hundreds, or even thousands, of miles away. This cruel practice cropped up in Texas in 2005, and since then, 34 states have taken action to prevent Internet hunting facilities from setting up shop in their states.Therefore, federal legislation banning this practice is crucial to prevent the start-up of similar operations across the country.

The Computer-Assisted Remote Hunting Act (H.R. 2711/S. 2422) would prevent the operation of web sites that allow people to shoot live animals remotely.

Internet hunts would be done most likely from canned hunting properties would they not ?

Hunting video games would be more fun I think.

I cannot even start to fathom why someone would pay money to do that, but I don't really see a striking reason to ban it.

I don't believe people should be able to beat puppies to death. I don't believe in dog fighting or chicken fighting.

HSUS supports all my positions above.

I DO believe shooting animals behind a fence should be legal. Good gawd aint that what we do with cattle ?

No, I do not support HSUS or this bill. As long as hunters obey all applicable state and local laws and hunting regulations, I see no legitimate reason toban any one type of hunting. Even something as bizarre as this.

It's not for me, but if it get's more folks into the pro-hunting camp maybe it's a good thing. One can always argue about terminology, but a unified front is stronger than a fractured one.
