I think a candidate would be respected for following the wishes of a band if they didn't want their music used as a signpost for a rally or campaign.
While they may not have a legal responsibility to stop playing a song, they would probably not gain much in the way of political votes or acceptance based on song choice alone. But they could get too much negative press for refusing to follow a request.
I would study the band and their issues first, before using a song for a campaign theme.
BOSTON is well known for being liberal, PETA members, vegetarians, and extremely left wing. Mike Huckabee should have realized that first. It is true what Tom Scholz said about "being the polar opposite from everything Gov. Huckabee stands for". Well, DUH!!!
I agree with that view, ... I know it's 100% true for me. I care only about the music itself and may hate a band's political leanings while fully appreciating their music. In fact I generally have no idea about a band or idividual's background or politics
"Boston has never endorsed a political candidate, and with all due respect, would not start by endorsing a candidate who is the polar opposite of most everything Boston stands for,"wrote Scholz, adding that he is supporting Democratic Sen. Barack Obama.
His actions and his words make Scholz a hypocrite, since he says, "Boston endorses no one", and then openly endorses Obama.
That's what happens when you try to get a foot on both sides of the fence, you get barbed wire in your nutz.
He just needs to shut the crap up, I think he's still sour over the fact that "Boston" doesn't exist anymore, ever since the lead singer,Brad Delp committed suicide last year.
