Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I think you guys are misreading this "no hand over the heart during the national anthem thing." When I was raised, I was trained to place my hand over my heart when reciting the pledge of allegiance, which we did every single morning at the start of public school, but to merely stand at attention during the national anthem. Therefore, it is no sign of disrespect to not put your hand over your heart during the national anthem. To this day I do not place my hand over my heart during the national anthem -- it doesn't feel right because of all the repetitive training I had (every sporting event starting with the national anthem, I was a basketball player for about 7 years -- no hands over the heart by anyone).

The Obama item comes with video, with a sound track. So, we know what's going on. The photo of Bush, without more, doesn't prove anything. Perhaps they were playing the ***anese anthem...

Alsation: As for whether the hand should be placed over the heart during the Anthem... The Flag Code says yes. If you were taught to put your hand over your heart for the Pledge, but not for the Anthem, you've been taught wrong.

Clearly the lack of hand-heart contact completely disqualifies this man from holding any elected office above City Comptroller.

Perhaps an independent investigation should be launched to fetter out those who are equally irresponsible. We can call it Handgate - Heartgategategate.
