I once heard that the best politician would either be a gun loving democrat, or a atheist republican, any thoughts?
I wish we could find a nature loving, gun loving, pro hunting candidate. Seems like nowadays someone who's pro environment is anti hunting, and vice versa, why can't a candidate be both?
Yes, the polarization has become a bit much. I don't necessarily want to see any of the types you've decribed, but it would be nice to see more than two sides to an issue when laws are made, that is partisan Republican and partisan Democrat.
haha, it just depends on what issues the person acts more like a democrat and what issues they act more like a republican. I want a gun totin', straight marriage, pro-choice, pro-labor, free (but fair) market, kick the illegals out, small government democrat (I'll just say that because that's pretty much what everyone is in WV). Someone else might want a gun registering, pro gay, pro life, pro-business, amnesty lovin, government healthcare republican......

What is wrong with your hero Mitt Romeny? Mitt claims to be a life long hunter. He also claims to be pro-environment.

That'll be me then. Im neither republican nor democrat, kinda moderate. I fit yer bill.
The Democrats have a vote getting soup recipe that they have been cooking for a very, very long time. I understand why they throw some of the things into the soup that they do -- affirmative action, gay rights, increased social spending, abortion rights, minority rights -- but I do not understand gun control. In each of the other things thrown into the soup a clear client voter can be discerned. Affirmative action -- black voter client. Gay rights -- homosexual client. Social spending -- poor client. Abortion rights -- liberated woman client. Minority rights -- minority client. Who is the client that is served by increased gun control? Are blacks well served by being forbidden to keep a handgun or a shotgun in their homes in Washington DC for protection? What about the other groups? How does gun control cater to and, in a sense, buy the vote of any client group? I don't get it. I also don't get why it is a good thing to give away a right, more particularly a "civil right." The right to keep and bear arms is a civil right.
