Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Why be President ?

I read or heard somewhere that Mitt Romney has spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 million of his own money for his campaign for the Presidency .... why would someone spendTHAT kind of THEIR OWN money for a job that pays $400,000 a year and all the turmoil in this country? ....Makes you wanna go "hemmmmmmmm"

he's worth almost 500 million, so what's 30 million? clinton spent 5 million of her own recently to keep hers going....some of her top employees are not going to be paid for a few weeks they say....personally I wouldn't spend a dime of my own, why would you? let contributors split the bill, isn't that what we're talking about, finance reform? let's limit it to 10million total and see who wins.

And we wonder why we can't get a decent president.

The president of the most powerful country in the world has literally become a joke.

She didn't exactly spend 5 mil, she "loaned" it to her campaign. I guess it takes a while to get a check From China to clear...

The recognition, influence, and control would be appealing to lots of people. I don't think it would be worth the stress, though, particularly if I were independently wealthy.

Being a President or Congressman is not about money. It is (maybe I need to say "should") about the honor of representing the people.

You think it's sad that someone will spend their OWN money to be President? I think it's sad that they want to spend MY money to tell ME why they should get my vote!!

And don't get even get me started on Congress...who can pass their OWN raise [:@]

And although it only makes(I know funny right?) $400,000 p/year...what is the potential income for them from speech circuits in future years? Admissions onto aBoard of Directors comes much more fluidly....and then of course the name recognition and "making your mark" in history have their allure as well.
