"Now that Okay, Oklahoma Police Chief Ronald Perry Lee, 32, has been charged on allegations that he failed to arrest on outstanding warrants a man with whom he lives, lots of folks may be suspecting some kind of "Brokeback" goings on at the Okay PD.
And odds are they might be right.
Chief Lee turned himself in Thursday on misdemeanor counts of neglecting his duty as a public official and disturbing the peace. After being booked at the Wagoner County Jail Lee was released on $2,500 bond.
Lee is accused of failing to arrest Dustin Ray Chancellor, 24, who had outstanding warrants out of Cherokee County for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse and malicious injury to property.
Chief Lee can not deny knowing where Chancellor was since they allegedly lived together.
And Chief Lee can not deny knowing about the warrants out for Chancellor, as Lee allegedly told Wagoner County deputies about them.
This after the Sheriff"s deputies were called to the Okay Police Department during what some might consider a "lover"s quarrel" between Lee and Chancellor. Reportedly Chancellor told deputies that he and Lee were "in a relationship" and that the fight started when Chancellor allegedly discovered Lee "with another man" at the police station.
Chief Lee is scheduled to appear in court next Wednesday.
In the meantime, if he wishes to have a laugh at his own expense, he might answer the phone with, "Brokeback PD".
