Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Can Ron Paul rise from the dead?

Out of desperation born out of the real possibility of a Romney nomination, I checked out the Ron Paul website. I know he doesn't stand the chance of a snowman in Satan's front yard. But I thought I would just check any way.

We were kind of favorably impressed. He calls himself a Libertarian, but, contrary to other Libertarians he thinks Lawrence v. Texas was wrongly decided. He's a 10th amendment guy. Thinks that kind of stuff should be up to the states.

He is also staunchly pro-life. Ahuge plus in this house. McCain says he's pro-life too, but I don't think it's a big deal with him.

I couldn't find a lot about his stance on gun rights, but he seems to be a second amendment guy. There are a lot of comments about his stances on many different issues. Will take a while to read a lot of them.

He seems to be the kind of guy who would appoint judges and justices who would be looking to the original intent of the Constitution's authors, rather than using it to fulfill their own fantasies.

So if Romney gets the Republican nod and Ron Paul goes third party, I guess we might be able to give him our support and our vote. Still undecided about McCain.

He doesn't have a clue when it comes to national security orthe global economy. We couldn't afford his archaic thinking.

One of the things I appreciate about Paul and McCain is that they have a track record, and don't flip flop it so much, well, like some. Romney troubles me because of his reversals. Eg, I understand he is on video tape saying that he would do more for gay and lesbian rights than Kennedy. (Still looking for a link to that.) I suspect that Romney would be oriented towards building the economy, and not so much to continue an endless war of attrition. Otherwise, I am a troubled republican this year.

RP has some awesome view points, and never goes against the Constitution..ever. I'm also against the government telling me what to do, and how to do it..when I have no say at all. I will agree that he needs a harder stance against terrorism...but everyone's different. I like more of what RP says than any other candidate, ESPECIALLY when it comes to fiscal policies and letting citizens in individual states vote to decide issues.

This caught my eye a long time ago:

Paul, 70, has earned the nickname Dr. No for his habit of voting against just about anything that he sees as government overreach or that interferes with the free market. No to the Iraq war. No to a federal ban on same-sex marriage. No to a congressional gold medal for Pope John Paul II and Ronald Reagan and Rosa Parks. He says the medals are an unconstitutional use of taxpayer money and once suggested each House member instead contribute 100 bucks from his or her own pocket.
Last year, Congress decided to send billions of dollars to victims of Hurricane Katrina. Guess how Ron Paul voted.
"Is bailing out people that chose to live on the coastline a proper function of the federal government?" he asks. "Why do people in Arizona have to be robbed in order to support the people on the coast?"

No, Ron Paul has no chance. It doesn't matter how cool you think he is, how much you like his ideas, he is not going to be the Republican candidate for president in 2008 or any other year.

Uhhhh, Romney is pro-abortion in case you haven't noticed. Yeah, I know he claims to have suddenly changed his mind when he decided to run for President. I don't believe the lying scumbag.

He's pro-abortion and anti-gun. His record proves it. And he's also an unabashed LIAR.

That's true, Ron Paul has absolutely no chance to win. But if the Republicans have become so liberal as to nominate Romney, and Paul runs third party, Paul will get our vote. It might send the Republicans a message or maybe lay the foundation for a party to replace them.
