Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Dawn Of A New Error

Humans Force Earth into New Geologic Epoch

***

One thing you learn studying 4.6 billion years of geologic time is that jumping to conclusions isnot verysmart. It's much easier and wiserto sort the variousepochs millions of years after the fact than it is to come up with new labels on the spot.

I agree, Kinda hard to change something that takes millions of years to transition into. They make valid points about erosion and altering our weathering (note weathering not weather paterns) patterns. Just look at New Orleans, when wechanged the delta and wetlands, we altered the erosion rates of the land. But as far as climate, its awful bold to make statments that we have entered a new Epoc caused by climate. Besides, time scales are based on the flora and fona. So this article is saying that we are now populated by a whole new set of organisms that did not exist in the Holocene.Wherewasthe transistion? Did I sleep through it agian?

Oh yea, stratigraphic layers have shown that there has been a major reduction in acid percipitation in the last100 years. That would be in old growth maples.

Not to get too far off the subject, but the Mississippi River has been trying to change course for a long time now. The Morganza spillway diverts much of the flow of the Mississippi into the Atchafalaya River. If the river had it's way it would have already changed course and gone thru the Atchafalaya basin years ago. It would have destroyed some wetlands and created new wetlands elsewhere.

The maple syrup is getting tastier every year and this causes the pancake stack to get higher...
