The big dog -- 52 pounds -- is social, people-focused, happy now, it seems, wearing a rhinestone collar in his new home in sunny California.
But as Hector sits up, deep scars stand out on his chest, and his eyes are imploring.
Hector ought to be dead, Nuccio knows -- killed in a staged fight, executed for not winning or euthanized by those who see pit bulls seized in busts as "kennel trash," unsuited to any kind of normal life.
I do believe that most animals deserve a second chance, but thats like asking a hypochondriac to walk through the ICU with you. One wrong move is all its going to take.

RE: would you adopt a vick-bull ?
Ive raised pits and even used them to hunt. I would not trust one that has been fighting. They have a great chance of snapping. The ones I had were pets, bread to be pets. Mine were pit/english bull dog mix. The English bull dog in them, made them less agressive. The hunting ones were bread for just that (actually not my dogs, but a friends hog dogs.) Sad to say,Vicks dogs are not good to have in a populated area. Ive seen hog dogs snap, out of the blue, and tear up cats or other animals. That was out in the country, I would hate to see them around kids.
