Default You Were Right

US video game sales soar to record 17.9 billion dollars

***

Video games are nothing. The U.S. cannabis industry cashes in $35 billion a year. Even withgame sales rising, and kids getting lazier, drugs will be the downfall of our youth.

the monetary expenditures on video games vs drugs isn't even in the equation on impact to our nations youth Aught Six.

but I agree kids blowing their minds and getting physically and mentally hooked on drugs is going to be the downfall, obviously not playing video games

"obese" is an undefinable word, yet its tossed around do lightly

but yes, Americans ARE very unhealthy, thats for sure. My 8 year old and 6 year old have only played video games at Chuck E Cheeses and the local arcade. They love them, hell I LOVE THEM, but I won't waste away my days on video games and won't let them waste theirs either

instead of a video game, I'll take them fishing, to the park, play some ball with them, camping etc

don't forget to teach them to cherish the holy white moose as true spirits of the forest.

I never been into computers, video games or really believed in them, but ended up buiying the PS2 for my kids this Christamas(I know, I'm behind the times)
I mean geez, I been a member hear for just over almost 3years and havn't even hit 1000 posts yet
I have always encouraged my kids to be physically active..
But on Friday, I just went to Costco to pick up some stuff, and low and behold there was Cabelas TROPHY BUCKS and OUTDOOR ADVENTURES video games so I bought them for myself.....
SO YEAHI COULD SEE MYSELF BUYING MORE......
HOPEFULLY I"M DON"T BECOME A STATISTIC WHER OBESITY IS CONCERNED.....[:'(]
As far as drugs go, my parents grew up in the 60's even though my dads a very successful accountant and my mom a gov scientist I know better than to think they didn't use..
The fact of the matter is , they grew out of it, weather it was kids that made them do it,no longer in their budgtet to smoke it,or they just matured, I can honestly say I saw no proof that they ever smoked it or even had evidence of it growing up..
I Personally smoked the stuff when I was younger and grew out of it..I'd be a fool to think my kids will never ever try it, no matter how good of an up bringing I give them or how active I keep them..
I'm already checking bedrooms, backpacks, asking questions,
to find evidence of it .
Like I told them already, I can draw a straight and narrow path on buts its up to youwalk it..
I don't expect any kid to be an adult at 18, sure they should now alot, but the bottem line is, you learn from your mistakes..
For me, it was when my dad came to me at 23, and said Jeff you made $200,000 in the last 3 years what have ya got absolutly nothing to show for it besidesa bunch of mounts and a truck thats not even paid off yet....
Now at 35 looking back I just shake my head at the money I threw away, and as much as I want to protect my kids from making that same mistake, I know at the end of the day they will be a success...Even if they go threw it themselves..
My kids now, no matter how hard things get out there, their mom and I are there for them twenty four seven, forever and ever....
Drugs won't be the down fall of our kids, drugs have been aroundalmost as as long as prostitution before alcohol.
My guess is as soon as god made EVE..
I know if I was Adam the first thing I'd do is light one up after shetookofthe apple and than start drinking...
It will never go away thats a fact...
People giving up onour youth, and passing judgment on their actions, always critizing them, blaming music, and everything else that society provides, and never ever rewarding or complimenting them on good behavrial intent and actions for them will be.....

You say, "I don't expect any kid to be an adult at 18." I've read this remark by other people here and I sometimes wonder if that isn't part of the problem.

If youDON'T EXPECTthem to be adults, if you EXPECT them to act like immature children, why be surprised at immature, childishbehavior?

I'm not surprised by childish imature behavior by young adults at all.
But tosay drugs are going to be the downfall of our youths is not fare.
I know my grandparents couldn't understand it but geez, he was off to war at 16 or 17 and came back to a girlfriend who had his baby...
Times were different and everyone had to step up and be responsible or the whole world would fall apart .
As soon as he got off of port he was working cause the
the allied countries had to step up and rebiuld ALL Of EUROPE...
That war nearly bankrupted the U.S. and Canada...
My parents were towed a straight line buy them, but withme, they were little more understanding,I was innocent until proven guilty..
I was guilty to some extent..I was responsible enough to get a good paying jod show up and put %115 effort into work, my pay my living expenses,(bills first) but putting money aside for retirement at in my late teens and purchasing a house and propery, in early twenties was something my parents suggested me to do, but eating (always ate at restaurants breakfast, lunch ,dinner)partying girls hunting took priority .
I expect 18 year olds to know right from wrong..
Thats what I mean by know alot, but to expect them to just throw them out into the real world and act like a mature adult istoo much to expect ...
All I'm saying is alot of these older youths and young adults are good, smart kids, and they just want some fun they will grow up into fine adults reguardless of what they are in now........
Yeah some will never stray, but most will stray, anda few will never recover, but in the end, most of these "strayed" youths will have settled down and become responsible citizens....
Maybe they should put more success stoies on the front pages and headlines on the news, but it seems to me success stoies never sells but failuers do.....
And when people fail, things are blamed for it....
All these kids need is a little bit of understanding, and support, and they'll turn out just fine....
