One of my students, a 17 year old girl asks me if I ever heard of this "ron Paul" guy. I say yes, but nothing else. She procedes to enlighten me and the class about how he should be president, but the government is hiding him. They don't want him to be president because ... are you ready ... he's going to let waitresses earn minimum wage plus tips.
She is not much different than the "tax breaks for the rich", "democrats are for the 'woyken man'" "Republicans are for dirty air and water, and want to cut social security and throw your grandma out in the street" crowd.
I guess she is a one issue voter. I wonder if she turns 18 in time to vote?

Actually, she is probably one of the few 17 year olds who even care about the political process. I'll give her that. What is sad is when you try to talk politics with adults and they told have a clue.
We have a 17 year old. I make it a point everyday to get all the answers from her now while she knows it all.
