"As a result of this investigation, (police believe) that the tiger may have been taunted/agitated by its eventual victims," according to Inspector Valerie Matthews, who prepared the affidavit. Police believe that "this factor contributed to the tiger escaping from its enclosure and attacking its victims," she said.
Negligence on the part of the zoo is what contributed to the tiger's escape, and all that matters is that the tiger was able to escape in the first place, not why. A visitor to a zoo has a reasonable expectation of enjoying the exhibits without becoming dinner for one regardless of their level of judgement or impairment of same.

I think a zoo exhibit should be able to contain an agitated animal. You never know what will set them off.
A couple of years ago a gorilla escaped it's enclosure at the Dallas zoo. Police shot and killed the gorilla before it could seriously injure anyone. The city spent $65K on a study to determine how the gorilla escaped. Their finding: the wall was too short. There's money well spent there![:@]
Darwin got another one... While I agree that the enclosure should have been better designed, I think it's ridiculous that thses morons are running around the zoo drunk and high from smoking marijuana. People take their families to the zoo. It's not a place appropriate for stoners and drunks.

RE: Idiots
I cant fault them for the attack. It was the Zoo's responsability to make it where the animals had no way to get out. Odd how a snow leopard got someone a few weeks later. Then it was discovered the enclosures were not built to the right specs. I see the zoo losing some serious money on this. I can see at least 4 legit law suits, as well as all the frivolous law suits that will be filed . I feel the guys being drunk is a moot issue. The only way that could be considered was if the guys had let the cats out, or got in the cage with them. Truth be know, the idea of having these animals in a enclosure might not be the best idea. Ive been to many zoos and all the animals get harassed, if you want to call it that.
