Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Border fence dispute brings Texas showdown

This week, the Justice Department began legal action against landowners and municipalities who have refused to give government surveyors access to their land.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/01/17/border.fence/index.html

The government wants to build 700 miles of fence along the Mexican border, including 370 miles of it by the end of this year. About 70 miles of fence is to be built in the Rio Grande Valley by year's end, if the government gets its way.

The Rio Grande River forms a natural barrier along this stretch of the border, but in some places it is narrow enough to swim across.

On the banks of the river there is ample of evidence that people do so. Piles of underwear lie discarded by swimmers after they make it across. The swimmers change into dry clothes they have carried across in plastic bags. Then they disappear into the United States.

..........is any of this affecting anyone on the board here directly?

Default RE: Border fence dispute brings Texas showdown

As Carlos Mencia put it "Who are they gonna get to build this fence, Mexicans?"
I lived in San Diego, Ca for a few years, and they have just such a fence, the Mexis cut holes in it every night and somebody mends those holes every day. It's like that scene in Apocalypse Now where the Dulong bridge constantly gets blown up and rebuilt. The only wall that will successfully repel illegal aliens is a rapidly receding wall of flying lead.
