It's certainly not a new tactic in itself, but it is new among border smugglers. Technology is great for pretending to be something you're not, even under close inspection. You can buy al the gear and paraphenalia online, get outstanding paint-jobs in small-time shops, and arm yourself to the teeth with a lot of the same small arms the feds use. It's really quite amazing.
