Israel to get "smarter" U.S.-made bombs than Saudis
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The United States has agreed in principle to provide Israel with better "smart bombs" than those it plans to sell Saudi Arabia under a regional defense package, senior Israeli security sources said on Sunday.
Keen to bolster Middle East allies against an ascendant Iran, the Bush administration last year proposed supplying Gulf Arab states with some $20 billion in new weapons, including Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) bomb kits for the Saudis.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's government dropped its objections to the proposed Saudi deal in July after securing U.S. military aid grants worth $30 billion over the next decade.

"....is this why there is so much fun in the ME ?"
You got it. Now the Sauds will have a vehicle for the mustard gas and nerve gas that they make at al Kharj. Saw Bush on TV the other day wishing out loud for something called "democracy" in the ME.

Our current stance and support for Israel will certainly provide a growing divide between ourselves and any Muslim backednation with all their oil. I question the intelligence of such an action. Our Foreign affairs is in the toilet.[:@]

This isn't a popularity contest. No matter what we do, we will be vilified by anyone with conflicting interests. Still, I don't see any OPEC nations out there saying they don't want our money.
We're actually doing quite a nice job stirring up anti-Iran sentiments within Arab countries. All is not lost because of our relationship with Israel. Same old same old.

Never. They will sell oil to anyone. Might be more expensive, but they will sell it. Besides, we dont need a reason for any Muslim country to dislike us, they already do. Besides, we could ease a lot of our oil problem by tapping Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico along our shores. Use that and really start working on alternative fuels. Ethenol is not the answer. Unless we can find a way to produce it with less energy, its a lost cause. Never understood the push for it. Lesser fuel, that takes more energy to produce than is yeilded.
