Default Wya's New Years wish.

Here's yer man Fieldmouse, Wya's gang should be high fiving it through the holidays.

Oil all time high, dollar all time low, and more manufacturing bitting the dust.

God bless our leadership. [:@]Or I guess , lack there of.

SAN FRANCISCO -- The dollar extended losses Wednesday and pared gains against the pound after the Institute of Supply Management said the U.S. factory sector contracted in December. The ISM index fell to 47.7% from 50.8% in November. Economists expected the index to slide to 50.5%. Readings under 50% indicate more manufacturing firms were contracting than were growing in December. It was the lowest reading since April 2003 and the first sub-50 reading since January 2007. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, was down 0.5% at 76.165, compared with 76.390 earlier Wednesday. The dollar was buying 110.23 yen, down about 1.5%, compared with 111.02 yen earlier. The euro was at $1.4694, up about 0.5% and compared with $1.4652 earlier. The pound was down about 0.4% at $1.9795, compared with $1.9783 earlier. Later Wednesday, the Federal Reserve is scheduled to release the minutes of its Dec. 11 meeting, at which the central bank cut rates by a quarter-point to 4.25%.

Oil passes $100 a barrel for first time due to concerns about inventories and Nigerian supplies.

Nigeria has continued to be a problem, OPEC could compensate but ....

I wonder why Nigeria does solve the outstanding issues faster ?

So, Jim, whats your answer to fix it? What you suggest? A strong dollar would kill the mfg of the products my company makes because its very desirable to sell overseas right now. A strong dollar could kill off the housing market much faster than its going. Carpenters and developers have to work too.

Why is a Liberal labeled "as one who wants to do others good with your money" Yet Wya and the G.O.P. have for years negotiated trade and foreign domestic deals to benefit the rest of the world at cost to Americans.
We are not pulling them up to our level we are dropping ourselves to theirs.

As for why, the only reason that makes any sense to me is a devalued dollar some what limits Chinas ability to dictate our foreign policy and also Taiwan's eventual ???????????

Surly you can figure oil prices out on your own. Where is Crawford again.

Wya's path down the yellow brick road continues. [] Happy new Year to all.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The minutes from the latest Federal Reserve meeting provided little relief to Wall Street as investors worried about record oil and gold prices and signs of manufacturing sector weakness in the first trading day of 2008.
The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) lost over 200 points with less than 1-1/2 hours left in the session. The broader S&P 500 (INX) index fell 1.4 percent and the tech-fueled Nasdaq (COMPX) composite lost 1.8 percent.

I stopped to get a burger in town the other day, when I sat down I was facing the counter and then it hit me. Out of all the people they had working in there one girl was in her late teens, early tweentys, the rest of them looked to be in their 40's and 50's. It's a dam shame to see people that once made a good living in this state have to flip fricken burgers to get buy. I was so bent out of shape I could not finish eating [:@].

Many of those problems started with NAFTA and carried over to the "free trade" agreement. Nothing fair unless you are from another country than the U.S.

I see your point, but have to ask myself, "how many of those 40 to 50s had good jobs to start with?"
