Timber is more valuable than ever and theft is getting much worse especially on federal land. TheForest Service Districts do not have the folks to keep an eye on everything.

Turned inatimber companyfor stealing timber from the Monongahela National Forest in WV in 2000.Called the FBI on them.The thieves were hauled into federal court and fined three times the value of the timber. They got felony convictions.

There was actually a piece on this same subject in today"™s local rag. The timber thieves prey on out of state land owners and the elderly who don't check their land often.
