Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Congress OKs Va Tech-inspired gun bill

"This bill will make America safer without affecting the rights of a single law-abiding citizen," said the Senate's chief sponsor, New York Democrat Chuck Schumer.

The measure would clarify what mental health records should be reported to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which help gun dealers determine whether to sell a firearm to a prospective buyer, and give states financial incentives for compliance. The attorney general could penalize states if they fail to meet compliance targets.

If Schumer, McCarthy, and Dingell are in favor of it then there just has to be something wrong with it. There's a hidden agenda there somewhere.

I do remember ready somewhere that it will also include servicemembers records. So anyone that has spent time in Iraq and comes home and get a mental eval to see how Iraq has effected them would not be allowed to purchase a firearm. I know this plan exsists but im not 100 percent it is included in this proposal. I know that mental evals on service members is standard procedure when exposed to extreme conditions.

That doesn't sound right, you would proably have to have an evaultion that stated you were messed up, don't see how just getting an looked could disqualify you.

NRA and GOA have been railing about this most of the year. Figures the House passed it by voice vote.

You guys had better start emailing Bush...

Hillary wants to force universal gov. healthcare and now the "mental illness" flag for purchasing a gun. Who says what makes you mentally ill? Just a few years ago homosexuality was a mental illness (DSM-3R). Things are getting downright Orwellian.

The pattern I see here, is that these are all Democrat initiatives.
On a 'hunting' board, I can't see why ANYONE would support the democrat
party regardless of what the republicans are up to. The dems will take your
guns, propagate socialism on a grand scale in this country, and then they'll
tax you into the street. Bah ! I'll vote AGAINST ANY democrat, regardless
of what the choice may be.....

Like I said I haven't read the bill yet, don't know if any one here has.

Serious question we need something to stop someone like the guy in VA from legally buying a fire arm don't we?

If there are no red flags for a psuchy with a violent history how do we stop them from getting one.
