I'm about as non-racist and non-prejudiced as it gets. But I agree with Ron Paul's response. How the heck are the candidates going to screen hundreds of thousands or millions of donations to check if their doners have controversial views?

And he makes another good point about "If I give it back to him, then he'll probably spend it trying to promote racism". If I were running for public office and some racist gave me money, I'd think "I'm glad I got this money away from this idiot before he spent it promoting his racist website!"

AndRon alsomakes another good point: It's the PACs and corporations that are spending millions of dollars that have politicians in their pockets, catering to their very whim, not individual donors who give $500.

Istrongly disagree with a number of Ron Paul's policy positions, butI like him and respect him. He's probably the LAST Presidential candidate you have to worry about being swayed by political donations!

He knew because he was told about it there is a link for donations on the stormfront website. It's not the fact one donation got through it's that he knows that there is funding raising going on for him from Nazi's and the KKK and he feels there is nothinf wrong with it,

He also has a heo nazi as an organizer in Tenn, why is that?

It seems that one of Rep. Paul's top internet organizers in Tennessee is a neo-Nazi leader named Will Williams (aka "White Will"). Williams was the southern coordinator for William Pierce's National Alliance Party

William Pierce the man that wrote the Turner diaries.

Williams claims to have spent 30 years as a racist activist, and reportedly was personally responsible for providing security services to William Pierce. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, in 1993, Williams targeted children for recruitment to the National Alliance, authoring and distributing a racist comic book called "The Saga of ... WHITE WILL" which featured a violent attack by the hero against a Jewish youngster (read here). In 1998, Williams organized what he advertised as a "European Culture Festival" in Cleveland, featuring Irish and Slavic folk music and dancers. Attendees found themselves at a "white power" rally with speeches by William Pierce, Tom Metzger, founder of White Aryan Resistence ("WAR") and other racist leaders (read here). In December 2000, he spoke to a younger racist audience at a concert of racist rock bands organized by the National Alliance and Erich Gliebe's Resistance Records in California. (read here and here) [Gliebe, Pierce's personally chosen successor to lead the National Alliance, specializes in the recruitment of young people. He is perhaps the world's leading promoter of racist rock music and computer games, and is one of the chief promoters of the racist girl group Prussian Blue. (read here)] In March, 2001, Williams participated in a racist anti-immigration rally on the steps of the Hall County, Ga. courthouse, along with his friend and National Alliance Party associate, Chester Doles, listed variously as former Grand Dragon and Former Imperial Wizard of the KKK (read here and here and here) . In July, 2001, Williams participated in a violent rally at the German embassy in Washington, D.C. in support of German neo-Nazis (read here).

Williams now spends less time recruiting young people to be Nazis via comic books and rock music, and more time recruiting them to support Ron Paul via several meetup groups in Tennessee (read here), although he may be using these meetups to do both. He also posts anti-Semitic messages on Ron Paul message boards (read here), sometimes eliciting requests that he keep his neo-Nazi views quiet while continuing to organize for Paul, or in one case a joke concerning remaining "non-interventionist" with respect to William's ravings (read here). "White Will" Williams has also been actively campaigning for Ron Paul via racist websites as noted here, on the Huffington Post. (That piece, titled "To His Dismay, Ron Paul Becoming Magnet For White Supremacists", was a whitewash of the racist connections of the Paul campaign, ignoring Williams' role as an internet organizer for Paul.)

Well, Charlie, I still stand by my reasoning that I would rather have a racist's money than give it back to him to use in a racist cause.

But employing a dedicated and strident racist as a campaign organizer is a horse of a different color, to use aphrase. THAT I find worrisome.

Sometimes "less government" is a code phrase for "tyranny of the majority" and a permissive/non-interference attitude towards racial intimidation. I think that may be what is at work here. Too bad. I wonder which is the chicken and which is the egg in this situation?

To me taht's a cop out. It's not like this was a one time donation that snuck through, they are (nazi's and Stormfront website) actively raising money and campaigning for Paul, was at their website yesterday.

I would recommend he give the money to an appropriate charity. Takes away all the problems and does not give the money back to the person/org in question. Probably not legal though.

Yep, and I would use it so I could get elected and make tougher child pornographylaws and increase money allocatedfor enforcing those laws.

And I addressed your point about employing racists. I wouldn't. Employing and taking money from someone are two different things. In one case (taking their money), you are actually taking their means to disseminate their hateful messages away from them. In the other (employing them), you are paying them money, which they can use to disseminate their hateful message, and you are having them represent you as a campaign official. Very different.

You don't think taking money from these types of groups wouldn't cut down on your voting block?
